Obama Supported by Long List of 1960s Radicals
Daniel J. Flynn at the City Journal details quite a list of 1960s radicals who support Barack Obama for president.

Radical Michael Klonsky of the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) is one. His group had clashes with police, and Klonsky eventually formed the Maoist Communist Party in the 1970s.

Mark Rudd is another supporter. He led an SDS chapter which formed a student strike at Columbia University. The article also says Rudd presided over the "the {SDS] organization’s metamorphosis into Weatherman" and was connected to the Fort Dix bomb plot that instead killed three Weathermen. Have he and his ilk changed much?

“Probably the biggest difference between Columbia SDS people in 1968 and in 2008 is forty years,” Rudd explained in an e-mail.

Also mentioned is Carl Davidson, another SDS nut who dabbled with Marxist groups.

Good ole Tom Hayden is another of these radicals backing Obama. Among his notorious accomplishments are causing trouble at the 1968 convention and marrying traitor "Hanoi" Jane Fonda.
Klonsky remembers Hayden plotting to spread nails on a highway; another SDS leader recalls Hayden encouraging activists to firebomb police cars.

Hayden is also one of the organizers of Progressives for Obama, a group Flynn says is a 'Who’s Who of SDS luminaries."

And of course there's Weathermen Bill Ayers who is a known associate of Obama's. Ayers is the domestic terrorist who bombed the U.S. Capitol, the Pentagon, several post offices and other locations. This is the man who said in a column on 911: "I don’t regret setting bombs. I feel we didn’t do enough."

And there are more...

Do these associations mean Barack Obama is an anti-American dirtbag like Tom Hayden or Bill Ayers? No.

But you have to ask yourself: would they be supporting Obama if Obama wasn't a pretty sure bet for advancing the kind of things they believe in?

Hmmm.

Does this mean that I can hold McCain responsible for the fact that he is supported by every racist, bigot, and homophobe in the country? :confused3

I see...so it's perfectly acceptable for an individual such as yourself to support Sen. McCain as a candidate who, although doesn't completely share your conservative ideals, is the lesser of two evils, but this lot can't...

God bless you Dawn, you're working overtime this go round!! You're almost Hillary-esque in your ability to remain undaunted! :teeth:

Please rephrase your statement -- it is blatantly untrue.

Hey Dawn!
Let me just say that as a very, very conservative Republican, I don't agree with this post at all. I don't think you can condemn a candidate because some whackos want to back him. For example, I'll be voting for McCain, but I've seen some people that I really don't like who have said that they are behind McCain as well. I don't think McCain should be grouped in with them, and neither do I think that Obama should be grouped in with these people. After all, there are only two candidates (well, there are more, but only two big named ones), so they will need to vote for one of them.
I feel that there are enough other issues to keep me from voting for Obama, but I don't think this is one of them.:thumbsup2

That's not true. Furthermore, Obama endorsed Bill Ayer's book. Ayer's and Bernadine Dorne had fund raisers for him. Some of these radicals are his friends. Ayers only regret is that he was an unsuccessful bomber and didn't do more.

I think who your friends are; Wright, Ayers, Dorne, and who you have associated with for years, says a lot about one's values, character and politics.

Oh, how silly of me.

I've heard that there are a handful of racists in Tennessee that are supporting Bob Barr. You'll have to excuse them, perhaps no one's told them that the KKK has endorsed McCain. :confused3

Of course, it says nothing of a far right or far left individual supporting a candidate, Republican or democrat) that is the lesser of two evils. Why read it when we can talk about the more liberal positions in which you disagree with McCain about, unless just recently, you've decided to go soft on illegal immigration or global climate change in lock step with Sen. McCain?

Since you appear to be moving more to the left in your ideals, this might be as good a time as any to remind you that the Democratic Party is really a big tent party. You're more than welcome to join! :thumbsup2

Sure does.

Well, if they are his friends and associates, then I do agree. The original article you posted didn't say anything about friendships, or the like, just that these people were endorsing him. On the basis of the first article, I'll stick to my original opinion. But, if they are his friends, associates, etc... then I'll be more likely to agree with your statement.

Robet Bryd - enough said. If you're going to try to start throwing around the KKK, you might want to start with the Democrats.

Wow. So in your mind all people who support McCain are racist and homophobes? Or is all racists and homophobes support McCain? I assure that I am neither. So how is your post any better than Dawn's? There really is no need for that statement.

Are you kidding me? :lmao:

I thought we were talking about the presidential election. :confused3

I said no such thing. :confused3

I was merely illustrating how ridiculous it is to judge a candidate by something that they have no control over- their supporters.
