Our plan is to visit the Disney Parks on Friday 30th October with our 4 year old son.

I have found out that it is an extra hour morning in DCA. We will not have passes for this so will arrive for normal opening time.

Will the extra hour opening have an impact on our chances of getting a fast pass during the day for this ride?

No, because the fast pass machines don't start working until the park opens for everyone.

If RSR is a priority ride, grab your first FP right when the park opens. Check to see what the line length is for RSR. You might find it isn't too bad.

Look at the FP return window time range. Use the FP right at the first time listed.
After you ride see if there are any RSR FP's left for the day. You might be able to pull another RSR FP for an evening ride.

If you grab a FP first thing, the return time will likely be before noon.

ETA: I'll be there too that day!

Thanks very much for the responses. Once we enter the park i think I will head towards Toy Story Mania with my son and send husband off to get the fat passes.

If we get to see both of those I will be very pleased as these are my little boys two favourites.

The FP line may be huge, but it does move really fast- so tell him not to panic thinking he is going to be stuck in it for an hour!

Fast passes should be available most of the morning. You will have plenty of time to do Toy Story (X2 if you want) and then go get fast passes for RSR.

Around what time should we attempt to get FPs if we want to ride in the evening? Thanks!

Try and pull a 2nd FP for RSR for after dark if you can....IMO it is a better experience at night.

That way you can be in CarsLand when they turn on all of the neon at dusk......that is so cool to see!!

Have fun!!

This is my first DL trip too and my biggest concern. I keep seeing RSR is to DCA, what TSM is to HS. How bad does TSM get? I am a huge Cars fan but also love TSM. Also is there anywhere fastpass times are posted? We plan on doing 4 days so I am thinking we could do DL one morning and hop over midday for a FP at night for RSR.

This is what we typically do. Even during busy times we've been able to get FP about 3 hours out after riding Toy Story and maybe a few other rides on the Pier before grabbing the FP. If you want to get 2 sets of FPs that day though, then send your husband right away so he can get them for an earlier time and you can try to get another set for a later time. We have to rider swap everything, so we only bother getting one FP for RSR each day.

I just saw the answer to this on another thread but don't have firsthand experience. It said to use "Ask Otto" by calling 714-520-7090. This number can give you wait times and fastpass return times.

During the Christmas Holidays my Husband would grab a RSR FP, and I would grab a Starbucks. Almost every time the lineup was longer for coffee than the FP!

That is so true! My cousin and I joke all the time that Starbucks needs FP!!

Midmorning would probably be more likely. FPs are typically long gone by noon.

TSMM doesn't get anywhere near as bad as it does at HS (partly because RSR is a much bigger draw), but it still builds a significant line. If you go when the park opens, though, you should have fairly little line and can probably do it two or three times before there's a significant wait.
