Does anyone have radiant floor heating under carpet??? We're redoing our family room, which is on a cement slab and I want to get rid of the wood burning stove. This is a colder room and thought maybe the floor heating system would be an option.

Just seeing if anyone has it, how they like it, did a professional install it?? Things like that

Thanks

I have it in my bathroom under tile, no carpeting. I do have an area rug in that bathroom and I can tell you that when I pick it up, the area right under the rug is steaming hot, so I am not sure if radiant floor heat is the best thing if you have carpet.

Ours was installed by our electrician during a rneovation.

Ours is a little different but we did the radiant floor heating in the master bathroom and the kitchen (both under tile).

However, my handy dad (not a professional) was able to lay the radiant floor heating by himself in both rooms (the kitchen area is fairly large).

We had radiant floor heating in our house when I was a kid. Yes, we had carpets over it and there didn't seem to be any problem with it. My parents switched over to baseboard heat about 20 years later, when there was a leak in the radiant floor pipes and it cost a fortune to fix.

I lived in an apartment building that had it in all the units. The units had both wood and carpeted floors, and it was lovely and fine with both!
