Tour Diary - Week 4

Hey all. Thanks for coming back for more.

Well, things have been pretty crazy the last few weeks. As Im sure most of you have heard, the band got into a car accident in Prince Edward Island, Canada. We were there for a big outdoor show on Canada Day, (July 1st), and right when we arrived into town, the action started. Heres what happened:
We arrived at the airport, after a long day of flying, on June 31st. So, we all piled into a 12 passenger cargo van. Obviously, not thinking that it would make any difference, I jumped into the very back seat of the van with Brad jumping in beside me. A few minutes go by, as were heading down a single lane highway from the airport to the hotel. Ironically enough, Im listening to a comedy skit on my iPod called, Car Accident by one of my favourite comedians, Dane Cook. We come to a stop at a red light in the middle of the highway. Kind of a strange place for a light if you ask me.Seconds later, completely out of the blue, still stopped at the red light, we get smashed from behind, by a minivan. It totally caught us off guard. No brakes squawking, no horns, no nothing. A couple seconds of complete silence go by, until Chris, our tour manager says, everyone okay? Thankfully everyone was relatively okay. I instantly felt my neck getting tired, and couldnt really move it. Brads leg and hip also got the worst of it, and actually it still hasnt gone away. Hes going to get a hip replacement soon Im sure. (just kidding).

Anyway, were all okay now, and are thankful that it wasnt a lot worse. Our driver really impressed us when she stepped on the gas at the last minute to lighten the impact. She actually saw the minivan barreling towards us in the rearview, and hammered on the gas. If it wasnt for that quick thinking from our driver, it definitely would have been worse.

So, the following night we played a huge outdoor show on July 2nd in P.E.I, and it was incredible. The crowd was one of the best yet, and although we were still fairly stiff, and couldnt move as much as we like to, the show totally rocked! Thanks P.E.I.

Speaking of kick *** shows, on July 14th, we played the Molson Amphitheatre, in our hometown of Toronto, Ontario. It was part of the Nickelback tour that weve been on for a few weeks now, and for us, it was by far, the best show on the tour to date. We were main support for the Nickels, which saw us on stage a little later than we normally play on this tour. Let me tell you. There is nothing like coming home after being away for a while, with a new single and a new record out. The vibe in the Amphitheatre was incredible when we hit the stage, and as usual, our hometown crowd made us feel at home. And it solidified a thought that I always find myself saying when Im on tour for months at a time. Im really proud to be from one of the greatest cities on earth. Toronto, Canada. Cheers, T.O

Also, that day, we found ourselves at MuchMusic in Toronto performing on Much On Demand. We had a great time. We performed Animal and Pain, we sat and talked with Leah, and we actually did some golfing as well. Like Ive said before, were kind of crappy golfers, but that day we were prosTo this day, I still dont know what chili-dipping iswhatever.

Ive gotta say. I have guilty pleasures. Everyone does right? Whether its constantly eating junk food, or listening to Justin Timberlake while youre in the shower, or maybe its ordering that useless s*** that you can only get from ordering off the T.V at 3:30 in the morning. This year, my guilty pleasure was watching American Idol. I know Im not the only one. Obviously not. Millions of people watched that show right? So what? Im not supposed to because its not cool? Because Im the singer in a heavy rock band, that should only listen to Tool and Slipknot? Sorry. Like everyone else, I really enjoyed watching the horribly bad ones on the first few episodes, and then I got hooked. I followed it pretty much to the end. This year it wasnt that bad. Lots of decent singers I guess. Anyway, where am I going with this right? A couple weeks ago at our show in Albany, NY with Nickelback, I ended up having dinner with Ace Young, Chris Daughtry, and Kelly Pickler. The top ten American Idols are touring the U.S right now, playing arenas, and they were scheduled to play in Albany the following night. So, they showed up at the show, and had a blast. I just wanna say that they are all really cool people, and I wish them success in the future. Believe me, one of the biggest things that pisses me off in this business, is the fact that so many UNTALENTED people out there get the chance to tour the world playing music, when they shouldnt. And so many very talented people will never get that chance. That really makes me angry. But, Im pretty sure that a few of those Idol kids do have talent, so I wish the deserving ones success. Thats all Im gonna say about it.

Okay, so I just wanna mention one more thing while were on the topic of reality music shows. An old friend of mine is a contestant on the new Rock Star: Supernova. His name is Lukas Rossi. I think theres a possibility that he may take the crown, but well see. The funny thing about Lukas is this: Years ago, before Three Days Grace ever got a record deal, Lukas had a great band called Cleavage. They were pretty much a hit in Toronto at the time. We knew the guys in Cleavage, so being the hard working band that we were, and still are, we gave them our cd and told them that we should play together sometime. Maybe we would open for them, or whatever. But, I guess they were too big for ustoo cool to give us the time of day. We never heard from them about doing a show. Since then, the tables have turned, I guess you could say. Funny how things work huh? Anyway, good luck Lukas. I hope you become the lead singer of Supernovawho knowsmaybe well do a show together sometime! Ill keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks for reading, and until next time remember,

Dont sit down to write, if youve never even stood up to live

Cheers,
Adam
