We are arriving to Orlando two days before checking into PORFQ and we are renting a car for the week. We did not request tags for DME when we arrive at MCO because we have the car.

My question: Should we take advantage of RAC at the end of the week at PORFQ? Or should we just take our own bags to MCO? Our flight home is on a Sunday around 11:00am so I'm figuring MCO will be busy. Any thoughts?

Why not have RAC take care of your bags? I mean, why take your bags with you to the airport if you don't have to?

As long as getting your bags to them in time won't be a problem for you, I'd do it. We finally had the RAC experience on our last trip and it was really good. We plan on doing it for any possible flight in the future, no matter how we're getting to the airport.

ABSOLUTELY!!!!
That is one of the only positives to going home! LOL
One time we took one of the earliest flights out of MCO back home and ME picked us up before RAC opened up. I absolutely HATED that we had to schlep our luggage to the airport ourselves and check it in there!! It is SO MUCH EASIER to do it at the Hotel!!! I will avoid taking a flight before RAC opens again for this exact reason! Good Luck and enjoy your trip!

RAC sounds great. My understanding is that the RAC desk opens at your resort as early as 5am and you can pay any luggage fees in advance by phone.

We have 11am Sunday return flights. If we use RAC am I correct that I should still plan on leaving for MCO by 8am to return my rental and go through airport security?

Are you flying domestic? if so, you could probably push it a little later. You shouldn't hit any traffic at that time and the car return at MCO is very easy and close. I would probably aim to leave at 8:30-8:45.

I would use RAC. That way you can return your car and head right to security!! So nice not to have to worry about checking bags!!
Be sure that you get your bags to RAC in time though. The bags have to be completely checked, with you walking away, boarding passes in hand, no less than 3 hrs prior to flight departure. So, I would head to RAC about 7-7:30ish.

We always use RAC! We always rent a car and make sure our return flights fit into the RAC schedule (3 hours before flight time). RAC is basically airport "curbside" service at the resort. Since we always fly Jetblue, we don't pay for luggage, so can't comment on that, but keep in mind since this is "curbside" service, tipping is expected and appreciated, just like if you used curbside at the airport. This is one service where we gladly tip (and over tip) because it is a great service and a real time saver at the airport! We love this perk!

Great Points goofy4tink!!! I tend to take the last or 2nd to last flight of the day and by the time I get up and get going it is always 11ish before I get my luggage to RAC. So I kind of forget to mention those important points to others as I am always within that 3 to 12 hr window and am there before they close at 1pm as well! But glad you brought those points up for the OP! :)

you can still go on the WDW site and book your DME return.
