I was looking at the AKL Jiko menu and I noticed they served rabbit and I started feeling bad...

Kinda a thin line between a meal..... and a pet... if ya know what I mean...

Is there alot of rabbit eating in the states?? We don't see it up here too much (at least I haven't)

Now if Bugs Bunny was a Disney character... I wonder if you would still find wabbits on the menu?...

hmmmm...

I don't exactly frequent fancy restaurants, but I don't think that rabbit is all that ravenously consumed in these parts. ;) I personally don't know anybody that eats it regularly, and have never tried it myself.

Yes people do eat rabbit. Not my personal fav but somebody likes it. These rabbits are raised for their meat so you are not eating someone pet.

I've seen real wild deer on the grounds of WL and THEIR restaurant serves wild game & deer,I believe.

Nothing like a good seared duck breast in a cherry sauce. Donald would be proud.

LOL Andrew!

I guess ducks seem more... mainstream..

I have had rabbit. Not at WDW, of course, but, at a hotel restaurant in Dublin, Ireland. And, honestly, I thought I was eating chicken. Not my favorite dish by any means, but, not unedible either. Try it and enjoy it.

DH tried the rabbit sausage at Artist Point. He thought it was tasty. I wouldn't say it's all that common though.

I did see rabbit in the frozen section of my grocery store today. Right next to the duck! Hmmm.

Did the rabbit taste funny, like Bugs?? heh heh heh
Seriously, does it taste like chicken?

Rabbit doesn't tend to be a feature in American cuisine, unless you are talking about game foods (such as what Artist's Point serves) in which case rabbit will sometimes appear on the menu with venison, elk, duck, etc. But that tends to be specialty restaurants.

I see rabbit most often on the menu in German restaurants, and with Jiko being an African restaurant, I wonder if it is a popular dish in South Africa due to the heavy German/Dutch influences on South African culture.
