Can I just say at this moment how much I HATE photobucket? I just went in there to get photos for a long overdue update only to find that I HAVE to use the new system... What happened to March 18th? I don't want to deal with that yet.... Grrrrrrgh....:headache:

I feel your pain!

DTD, Raglan Road and Ridermakerz

So feeling quite content... thanks to a wonderful morning at AK (plus a little extra contentment brought on by the Mojitto :)) we made it back to the Villas where David encountered his friend Ariel...

100_0902.jpg

Oh David... methinks you have a crush...

100_0904.jpg

Eric took him back to the pool... while I took a wander around the Villas...

Before we knew it, it was time to head off to dinner at Raglan Road... A place I've been dying to try for a while now... so I was really dying of curiousity...

Unfortunately the wait for the bus to come was a bit long (probably the longest of our stay) & We made it just in time...

IMG_0999.jpg

IMG_1002.jpg

Summary of Raglan Road... Awesome atmosphere... Great food...eh server... (I was covetously eyeing our table neighbors charming and accommodating server... I felt like I was breaking a Commandment... Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's superior Restaurant Server...) But we had a really good meal and Raglan Road is a delightful place... with a really beautiful bar that was brought over from Ireland... (We had hard cider on tap... really awesome treat because it isn't that easy to get...)

IMG_1005.jpg

we shared

the Scallop Forrest

IMG_1006.jpg

the Shepard's Pie/ & a Chicken Pie and

IMG_1009.jpg

IMG_1010.jpg

the very and much talked about Ger's Bread and Butter pudding...

IMG_1013.jpg

this was so good absolute heaven... but so filling (it's one of those things you think about later and think you'd like to have some of the rest you had to leave behind....:( ...

I'd like to see them offer a dessert sampler... with the B&Butter Pudding and some lighter options... (there was a lemon curd & meringue concoction I had been contemplating as well...)

WE would definitely go back...we did get to see a little Irish Dancing and I'd like to go back for more entertainment... I love Irish Music...

IMG_1011.jpg

Waddled off... and made our way over and towards the Marketplace...

Where there were a couple must do stores...

Did not do goofy's Candy company this time

but the Lego Store is a sort of shrine/attraction to us...

IMG_1014.jpg

Disney Store... I was thinking about this book (of course)

IMG_1022.jpg

I still Have my Basin Soap with the Mickey ear profiles -I don't want to use it... :( cause then it will be gone...

I bought a Snow White tee I loved in Tren-d (I'll show more of it in the next update... Magic Kingdom Day...)

100_1016.jpg

It's so awesome a shirt... I'm glowing...:rotfl:

Next door, Our ultimate destination...the piece de resistance... Ridemakerz...

IMG_1031.jpg

Some of you ... especially if you have a son... may know all about this...

You get to make your own Remote Control Car...Which is very cool...

100_0940.jpg

IMG_1027.jpg

What is not cool... is just like buying a real car, you almost never buy the base car... you ALWAYS wind up with better seat covers or a better radio, automatic transmission, etc...

This was going to just be David's big souvenir but it actually wound up be part of his Christmas gifts, because we had to subsidize the cost differential...

But it really was a fun experience for him (& Eric) putting it together....

Next up: Kona Breakfast... and the MAGIC KINGDOM

No, we didn't. It was closed for refurb (January). Next trip! ::yes::

You will really enjoy it... it's definitely longer...speaking of longing... I'm longing for a Disneyland trip...;)

I SO UNDERSTAND THIS! It's my constant battle. Juggling all the little "extras" I do on the computer. The only thing that works for me is dedicating a bit of time each day to stay up to date. When I fall behind I generally catch all up by DISing for 1 hour per day, then update my own TR. After I am caught up, I only need to dedicate 30 minutes each day really to stay on top of it all, maybe a tad more for my own update.

Yes- I really need to set up a specific schedule too it helps me so much... I've been really addicted to Pinterest recently...:sad2:...it's like potato chips... it's hard to pin just one...:rolleyes1

We have never had a drink at the Dawa Bar, but have sat there eating a breakfast from the coffee shop. It's a great little spot for people watching, isn't it? I've heard the Lost on Safari is very good too!

Yes... I've heard that as well... we obviously have plenty of friends on Dis who have tried quite a variety of the adult libations...:rolleyes1...:lmao:

What a cute picture!

Thank you about the picture and thanks for posting... I've lurked on quite a few of your trip reports but they've always gotten so long by the time I've found them that I've been intimidated...I'll have to get in on the beginning of one... hopefully you have a trip coming up...:goodvibes

Yak and Yeti is the lone AK restaurant we have not eaten at. I want to try to get a walk-up on the spring break trip, but I wish I knew if they will substitute lo mein noodles for the rice if I get one of the chicken dishes. Surely they will, if maybe for a little additional cost. The green beans intrigue me, and the cream cheese wontons will be a must, if we get in.

Oh do go... You will enjoy the atmosphere and they really are quite accomodating...:goodvibes

Totally agree with you about Photobucket! It is so horrible. Why change a good thing? What was wrong with the old setup? And Disney too?? Why all the change??

I am extremely irritated with Photobucket right now... I just need the old format back for a little longer... (couple of months...:lmao: till I have the time to play around and figure out the new one...

Yum! That Sugar Cane Mojito was so yummy. I had one (or two) in July and plan to make them a new tradition! :drinking1

YES! Don't you think they should make T-shirts for them? :thumbsup2

I feel your pain!

Thank you... I'm trying to remain calm...:badpc:

I agree with you about Photobucket. Everyone seems to be displeased with the "new" one. It blows. We have a trip coming up soon and I was wondering if I should switch over to Flickr, but I have so much invested in Photobucket that I am not sure I WANT to switch.

I guess I will have to wait and see if they work things out between now and then. I understand that the pictures are all out of order and that is very crucial to me and all of us who write trip reports. We tell the story through our photos and if they aren't in the right order .... well that is a deal breaker. Also, the size of the photos seems to be an issue as well.

Raglan Road is a favorite of ours, too...the food, the music, the dancing! :woohoo: That bread pudding is SO good!

No Goofy's Candy Company? Say it ain't so!?!?

I just looked at the calendar and realized that in exactly 2 weeks I will have the very good fortune of landing in Rome, Italy for a week of Spring Break with Hatter, Rabbit and Alice...

IMG_1268.jpg

Roman Fountain, Italy Pavilion, Epcot

& I also realized that I am further behind on this TR than I'd like to be (as well as behind on finishing an old PTR (2010) that I realized was still open about our trip to Paris and Disney Land Paris... & I made myself a promise that I would finish that one for personal closure. So I before we go, I have to finish my old PTR, & move ahead with this current one.

Because I'd love to start a PTR when we get back for our July Southern Road Trip to Disney; with a little bit in the beginning about Rome (but I can't handle three TRs-so before we go I have to finish the old one (2010) and I also I need to get this TR train moving... (chug...chug...)

And So...It is...

Time for Breakfast at Kona & Our Day at my favorite Disney Park and the Happiest Place on Earth... The Magic Kingdom...

Despite Eric's enduring faith in the Disney Transportation System, I was uncomfortable with the contortions we'd have to make to get to the Poly for our 7:30 reservations for our Kona Breakfast... So we ended up cabbing over to the ever lovely Polynesian... ( a little earlier than I thought necessary but Eric really wanted to ensure our promptness...)

Hello Poly! I've missed you and that scent and sound of water that you emanate... (Why is it than when we go into other Dis resorts I always feel lonesome for them... I was perfectly content at the Beach Club but now I'm eyeing up the Poly with a certain covetous feeling...

Wow... I really need Breakfast... & there is Kona...

Kona Sign

100_0957.jpg

Unfortunately we are about a half hour early so we have a little time to peek around... see them setting up the Ohana Character Breakfast and just admire the inside of the lobby... but we are all really starving... and my need for caffeine is getting serious...

I think we were all wanting to be seated and I might have made a sarcastic comment to Eric about being late...

IMG_1048.jpg

Mercifully, 7:30 came and we were seated...

Now a lot of people come here for the Tonga Toast which is very good. However my real love here are the Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes... with the Macadamia Nut Butter... But not wanting to go into a carb coma... I split with Eric who got the Big Kahuna... Eggs, Potatoes, Sausage, Biscuit, etc... I believe I also order fruit & David had plain pancakes with syrup....

IMG_1055.jpg

The other thing that makes me oh so happy here is the Kona Pressed Pot

IMG_1052.jpg

Oh yes... You have no idea how happy I am to see you...

IMG_1053.jpg

Full and Fully Caffeinated... we were able to walk right out and get on the monorail to make Rope Drop for the MK

IMG_1059.jpg

Why do I always feel like I'm going to cry when I see this? (not because I want a new camera... but because I'm a total sentimental goober for the Magic Kingdom...)

IMG_1061.jpg

Love Raglan Road! That bread pudding is awesome, isn't it??

RR was awesome...:thumbsup2 I'd like some of that bread budding right now...:rolleyes1

The Ridemakerz sounds like a lot of fun for David! :goodvibes

It was and for Eric as well...;)

I agree with you about Photobucket. Everyone seems to be displeased with the "new" one. It blows. We have a trip coming up soon and I was wondering if I should switch over to Flickr, but I have so much invested in Photobucket that I am not sure I WANT to switch.

I'm really unhappy right now... I can't figure out what's going on ... I need some time to really play around... I don't want to upload a lot more photos either... same situ with a trip coming up and I don't know what to do with the photos till I at least figure it out...:confused3

I guess I will have to and see if they work things out between now and then. I understand that the pictures are all out of order and that is very crucial to me and all of us who write trip reports. We tell the story through our photos and if they aren't in the right order .... well that is a deal breaker. Also, the size of the photos seems to be an issue as well.

Sigh I know if you figure it out please let me know...:scared:

Raglan Road is a favorite of ours, too...the food, the music, the dancing! :woohoo: That bread pudding is SO good!

It really is pretty awesome...:thumbsup2

No Goofy's Candy Company? Say it ain't so!?!?

I know it's pretty sad... but that bread pudding really did me in...:confused3

Hahaha we usually show up way too early for our ADR's too! We love Kona Cafe, that's definitely one of my favorite Disney breakfasts!

New Fantasyland!! :cool1:

I am sorry I got two updates behind. Catching up on everyone's TR now.

:cool1: Congrats on two weeks until spring break. Can't wait to hear all about your trip!

Love your Raglan Road dinner. I am looking forward to eating there again this summer. The last time I ate there I didn't get a good view of the dancer and musicians.

What little boy doesn't want to make their own car?

Yummy breakfast!

I totally understand your feelings about the new Photobucket -- I HATE IT!! I got so frustrated, that I moved a bunch of pictures over to Flickr for my current TR.

I've never been to Raglan Road, but I think I need to add it to our "someday" list :thumbsup2

Love, love Kona bkst!

How exciting your Italy trip is coming up soon!!

"Sentimental Goober" is a very apt description of my feelings for MK, too. I have love for all the parks, but if someone were to say I could only go to one park for the rest of my life, I'd choose MK. I'd cry...and kick and scream...but ultimately it'd be MK.

Kona is so great...it's our must do breakfast place every trip. Macadamia nut pancakes...swoon!

ROME...sooooo jealous!! :thumbsup2

I'm caught up. :)

I am so happy you guys enjoyed Raglan Road. We've gone twice now and we've enjoyed it each time. Mark loves that bread pudding dessert (I don't care for bread pudding) and he is always moving slow after he finishes it. :rotfl2:

They didn't have that build a car thing at DTD when our boys were young, but we've watched some kids on our visits, and it looks like a great thing for the boys.

LOVE Kona for breakfast (a must do for us each trip now) and I'm with you...the Pressed Pot Coffee. :worship::worship::worship:

I keep seeing so many Raglan Road updates! I think I am going to have to go there on my next trip, that bread pudding looks amazing!!

I've heard of Ridemakerz but I never knew what it was, sounds like something really fun for a boy to do on vacation, since there are so many princess-y things for girls to do! :thumbsup2

I love walking into the Poly, it smells so good, and I always want to stay there, no matter where I am too! :rotfl2: Kona is so good for breakfast, it's nice going there early and then getting to MK for rope drop!

Finally caught up again!:goodvibes

Yay! I'm so happy that David liked Dinosaur! Loved the pictures with Santa Goofy!!!:thumbsup2

Glad you enjoyed Yak & Yeti! I've heard good things...we'll have to give a try next trip!:)

Ridemakerz looks like fun! I know my boys would love it as well!! Another thing to plan in!!!;)

Aww...I'm so sad that we cancelled our Kona breakfast on our last trip!! It looks and sounds so yummy!

Now a lot of people come here for the Tonga Toast which is very good. However my real love here are the Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes... with the Macadamia Nut Butter...

:worship: Oh how I love me some Kona...and I am with you on the Mac Pine Pan.... I have to order sausage with them because the Poly sausage is so yummy and you need a little protein to cute the sweet. Yum...I'm drooling now! I wasn't going to book a breakfast at Kona this trip, but I guess I have to now! You can get the Tonga Toast downstairs at Captain Cooks...why can't you get the Mac Pine Pan??

So sorry I finally responded and then didn’t have the courtesy to make it back and respond to your response – lol

My guess is that some decorator liked them... cute size and shape and whimsical but didn't pay attention to the creepy expressions... HA... You are from the Pacific Northwest... so you are probably used to colder water... (I know the water from San Francisco to at least Monterey is pretty nippy... by Santa Barbara it seems to warm up...Not a big fan of zee cold water... David has been swimming on a team so he's probably the hardiest in terms of water temps...

You’re probably right on that. Yes, the water is always pretty cold here. Whether it is at the beach, at a lake, or on a river you will be in pretty cold water even in August.

Seriously... 105-110? but then we get into the high 90s WITH Humidity... it's like a swamp... Em met a girl from Berkley in a program she was in several years ago and this poor girl was dying from our combo of heat humidity and mosquitos... (actually I think the reason the Founding Fathers probably finally agreed to sign the Declaration is because they were desperate to avoid a full Philadelphia summer...

I can handle the hot, hot days since it is so dry. I can’t hack the humidity long term, it kills me :P

LOL... EVC as a weapon/resource of procuring FPs... I love it...

It worked exceptionally well.

I did get the Canon and if I manage to get its extra features down... maybe I'll eventually move up...

Glad you got it, good luck with getting a handle on all of the new features.

Well in theory... if it had been warmer starting on Kali would have made sense...You never really expect to get wet and yes you really got zonked at Universal... I thinking that might actually feel kind of refreshing in July...

Yes, all about the time of day and time of year as far as really getting wet.

LOVE that trail... the bats are enormous and pretty cool and the Tigers are really incredible animals...

Agreed

Oh I know I'd so love another land... another continent maybe... Australia or something else but surely not Avatar Land... Heaven help us all...

Australia would be very cool – there is so much unique wildlife there and theming

I'm sure he was... he's not too patient with the photos after a certain point... It seems like a lot of guys have spinning issues... no probs with the coasters... but the spinning...not so much...

I can understand David wanting to just get on with the rides, but as parents we are obligated to create those memories. Yup, it is the spinning – gets us every time.

He was a trooper ... and I know his limits ...I only nudged a little ...(it kind of freaks me out when I see parents dragging crying/really upset kids on rides...) Now he can't wait to do it again...

He conquered Dinosaur like a champ. And I agree – how can those parents not step out of line when their kids are clinging onto their legs screaming “please don’t make me!” That is NOT a magical memory for a kid.

Yes... and I think when you get on a writing mojo it's easier to keep it going at that pace... it can actually be harder to update when you've waited a bit... I think ideally about 3x every two weeks would be about right for me...

I’m killing mine, will probably finish it in the next week. I actually have the rest of my Daddy/Daughter day finished and just have to copy/paste the last few chapters but don’t want to overwhelm everyone with posts. You’ve got a good pace going – it honestly makes me feel less guilty for not checking back every day ;)

Yes... it's really hard to balance all of the different social media outlets at one time... and writing a TR really takes some time and thought... and photo management...

The photo management is the one bonus I have since I am able to use my workstation as my photo processing station (having two monitors and the Photoshop suite helps there) and it is also my web server so no uploading to an image hosting site.

Oh do try the TS at Yak and Yeti at least once and see what you think of it...

I’m pretty positive we’ll have it booked for our next trip!

Yes... great people watching and good drinks... I imagine you'd need to use caution especially in the summer...

A future goal for me is to do a grownup trip where I’m able to do the monorail pub crawl:

Contemporary – Wave Bar
Polynesian – Tambu Lounge
Grand Floridian – Mizner Lounge
Grand Floridian – Cítricos Lounge
Contemporary – Outer Rim Lounge

You can mix them around depending on how many times you want to ride the monorail. The Poly really needs a second bar so it can be even between the resorts with two each ;-]

Raglan sounded great, love the “Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's superior Restaurant Server” quip.

Love the Snow White shirt you picked up – she’s my favorite princess ;-)

I’ve never been in Ridemakerz, quite the place for a boy. Wait until David starts wanting the remote control helicopters!

You guys all looked pretty chipper despite the early hour for your Kona reses. Bummer about the wait but better than rolling the dice on Disney transportation and possibly being late. Looked like a really nice breakfast.

Yay for making rope drop and cool shot in front of the castle. Looking forward to hearing about your New Fantasyland experience!

I LOVED Raglan Rd when we went, it's been so long. I keep saying I've got to get back.
DH always wants to make one of those build your own race cars. :rotfl:
Mmmmm Kona breakfast! You're making me hungry!

Hahaha we usually show up way too early for our ADR's too! We love Kona Cafe, that's definitely one of my favorite Disney breakfasts!

New Fantasyland!! :cool1:

We especially seem to do the early show for our Breakfast ADRs ... I think so we get to rope drop on time...:rolleyes1 (I think we figure subconsciously it will keep the servers on track since we were early... hmmm... not sure...

New Fantasyland is so awesome!princess:

I am sorry I got two updates behind. Catching up on everyone's TR now.

:cool1: Congrats on two weeks until spring break. Can't wait to hear all about your trip!

Agghhh... packing must happen soon... It will be awesome once we get there I think...

Love your Raglan Road dinner. I am looking forward to eating there again this summer. The last time I ate there I didn't get a good view of the dancer and musicians.

Raglan was really good and I love Irish music ... we got to see more of the dancing which was fun... I'd love to go back and hear more music...:thumbsup2

What little boy doesn't want to make their own car?

Right? Except the big boy was pretty excited about it too...:rolleyes1

Yummy breakfast! It really was...:goodvibes

I totally understand your feelings about the new Photobucket -- I HATE IT!! I got so frustrated, that I moved a bunch of pictures over to Flickr for my current TR.

Aggghhh don't get me started... I'm really hoping to stick with it at least for the rest of this TR...:sad2:

I've never been to Raglan Road, but I think I need to add it to our "someday" list :thumbsup2

Oh yes you really should... the food is really good, and its got great atmosphere...:thumbsup2

Love, love Kona bkst!

Me too... I think I just read about your Kona breakfast about 20 minutes ago...:lmao:

How exciting your Italy trip is coming up soon!!

It will be but I'll feel it more when we're packed and on the plane...;)

"Sentimental Goober" is a very apt description of my feelings for MK, too. I have love for all the parks, but if someone were to say I could only go to one park for the rest of my life, I'd choose MK. I'd cry...and kick and scream...but ultimately it'd be MK.

Yes it would be an awful predicament to be placed in but the MK would have to come out on top...

Kona is so great...it's our must do breakfast place every trip. Macadamia nut pancakes...swoon!...Serious, serious yums... and don't get me started on the macadamian nut butter...:faint:

ROME...sooooo jealous!! :thumbsup2

Yes I am excited... I just need the cardinals to select the Pope now so I can get into the Sistine Chapel...:rotfl:

I'm caught up. :)

I am so happy you guys enjoyed Raglan Road. We've gone twice now and we've enjoyed it each time. Mark loves that bread pudding dessert (I don't care for bread pudding) he is always moving slow after he finishes it. :rotfl2:

We really did enjoy it... and will definitely be going back... I totally empathize with Mark... that is some EPIC bread pudding and incredibly, filling...a table could share it...:lmao:

They didn't have that build a car thing at DTD when our boys were young, but we've watched some kids on our visits, and it looks like a great thing for the boys.

It is really fun and I love the boys things at Disney... it was always so easy to find so many special princess things with Ems... I'm glad to see the boys get some love too...

LOVE Kona for breakfast (a must do for us each trip now) and I'm with you...the Pressed Pot Coffee. :worship::worship::worship:

OH my yes... and ironically my two favorite breakfasts Kona and Boma have the pressed pots...;)
