I don't know if this is the right place to post this question, but since it applies to my health issues I thought best to put it here first.
I was recently diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, right now I'm only on Steroids and Plaquenil, but my doctor has said before summer I will most likely be on a DMARD type medication, she isn't quite sure right now which one.
I have two questions, if I am put on a medication that needs to be refrigerated...we are staying at Pop Century...if the doctor writes a note will I be able to get a refrigerator for free? I had read somewhere on here that this would be a possibility.
Two: if the medication needs to be infused and should happen to fall within our trip is there somewhere close to WDW that could give me my infusion?
Both are what-ifs right now, but I like to be prepared and have some input when we are deciding what might work better for all around purposes.
Thanks for any help!!

You will be able to get a refrigerator at no charge. You should call ahead and let them know that you need one. You don’t need a doctor’s note for this; just be prepared to show the medication if asked.
Check your bill when you are checking out to make sure you were not charged - occasionally they make a mistake, but will remove the charge from your bill if you contest it.

One thing to be aware is that there are 2 types of refrigerators and you could get either one. The larger one is like a small dorm refrigerator and would hold several cans of pop or a quart of milk. The other type is about the size of a shoebox and is really only for medication.

For the infusion part, you can work with whoever is currently doing your infusion at home. They may have a contact for you down there. You would need to have it set up ahead of time because they will need to work out doctor’s prescriptions and also billing.

Thanks!! A small one would work for us, there are two of us that will use it(mom has diabetes and needs insulin refrigerated) but if thats all that we get then so be it.
Don't know if I will need infusion services while we are there, but I will definitely talk to whoever will be handling my case up here.
Thanks for the help!!

Let them know that 2 people have refrigerated medications when you ask for the refrigerator. also, be aware that when they bring refrigerators, they often turn them way up as cold as they go. You will probably need to do some fiddling around with the control to make sure it is not too cold.

Also, you can contact Housekeeping after you arrive and ask for a sharps container for your mom's insulin needles and lancers. They will provide those free of charge for safety.

I do billing for infusions...

I just want to also add that if you need an infusion at another location to make sure you call the insurance company, too, and make sure it is not considered "out of network" - you could end up with a large bill that you are not expecting if they won't cover you at full benefits. If they say it is ok and will be paid at the regular rate, then I would get that in writing or at least document names, time/date of call and any call reference number they can give you.

Most of our patients just skip the infusion if they are only going to miss one...or move it ahead or off a few days...depends on the patient and medication, but most of my patients don't try to do infusions at any other clinic - there is just too much red tape and risk of something getting messed up on the billing side.

We had an emergency in Orlando and still had to pay a LOT out of pocket because of the in network/out of network issue.
