It's easy to explain really. Disney parks are filled with " the little things ". Hidden Mickeys, the FSU rodent which pops out of the ceilingof Splash, a child grasping Mickey's nose, standing on the same walkway that Walt used at DL, the Castle lights at Christmas. Too many to list....we walk by them all the time. If Disney parks were just rides, it would be the same as 6 Flags. I remember the first time I watched PUSH. He was surrounded by children absolutely captivated. PUSH was part of the Magic of Disney.

I would categorize push as a character meet and great, he talked and interacted with people. Those things you listed above are stationary things that aren't going anywhere. You would have to have an overhaul to get rid of hidden mickeys. Castle lights would have outrage if they were gone. It was something contracted out Disney didn't own push all of those things above Disney owns.

its a radio controlled trash can. They still have the characters, the castle, the rides, I'm pretty sure those things bring more happiness than the trash can. Yes I liked it yes it was interesting and something unique but it's not something that needs to be given a funeral. Two acts were also lost in Epcot and I liked them too but I will survive without them.

For me, the biggest part of "Disney Magic" are the surprises. Push was definitely one of those surprises.

The Castle, most of the characters, the rides etc are not surprises because everyone knows about them and has seen a ton of photos of them even before their first trip and so do not really count as Disney Magic for me.

okay I understand but if disney really wanted to keep push they could have. They had two choices bring him back under a agreed upon contract or build their own where they don't have to worry about contracts from an outsider. Sadly I don't see push coming back.

That assumes they could come to agreement. Disney tried to come to agreement but wanted some clauses about intellectual content. The company that owns the Push technology would not agree and didn't want Disney to have any intellectual property rights. It's apparently not totally dead but nearly. So Disney did want to keep Push but the two parties can't agree. Disney doing their own version would run into those intellectual property right issues and they would look like they were trying to going around the issue and that would give them a problem in any resultant legal proceedings.

You are right about that but unfortunately not everything is within their powers. There have been similar issues over the history of Disney parks.

The little things elevate Disney above other parks. Take too many away.......the magic follows.

While I am not devastated over Push, I am sad that another fun and unique point of interest is going to be forever gone from the WDW landscape.

When my DD was around 7 we met Push for the first time. It just blew her mind that this trash can was talking to her. She could not figure it out. She stuck her head in the opening to see if she could see him and he told her that her head smelled like shampoo. She was like huh?? She wanted to take her picture with him and he told her all of friends at home were going to think she was weird wanting her picture with a trashcan. Just silly, fun memories.

yes I agree with you on that point but he isn't coming back.

RIP PUSH. Never even got to meet ya. A cute lil' addition to the parks forever gone.
