Quietest Resort

We're planning on visiting WDW in April with our 5 year old son. We're looking for a Moderate or DVC resort (with point rental) that is small and quiet. We've stayed at the Caribbean, but it was annoying with the construction. Also, the resort is very spread out.

Any recommendations?

We like Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter for quiet / laid back feel (though food courts can still get crazy). SSR / Old Key West are quiet DVC resorts as well.

French quarter and Port Orleans are very quiet; our children loved staying there when they were little. I believe they may be doing a soft refurbing of the rooms at both during your stay, but that is nowhere close to actual construction. If you choose there I would request a newly refurbished room..you might get lucky.

Quiet can be a matter of luck. I've had some very quiet value rooms and some noisy deluxe rooms.

My advice would be to request a top floor room, one that faces away from any pool area.

French Quarter is really the only small resort.
Quiet is, as others have said, all in the luck. It's Disney. There are lots of kids around. Excited ones at that. It's rarely a quiet place.
The most quiet resort we've encountered in general was probably Saratoga Springs. But there isn't anything small about it

I agree with others. It's total luck of the draw. If you end up staying at a moderate (we like POFQ and POR), I would request "high floor" "no connecting door". I have found, generally, the villas are much quieter than standard rooms at deluxe resorts. We've had major noise issues at both YC and BWI, but never had noise issues in BCV or BWV. We also stayed at WLV (now known at BRV) without noise issues. Especially with 1 and 2-bedroom units, the main bedrooms don't have a door that leads to the resort hallway so you are insulated a little from the running feet and screaming children as they go down the hall.

The DVC resorts will be quieter because they have larger rooms and less population density than the hotels. We have found OKW and SSR peaceful. These resorts are also more distant from the theme parks, which produce lots of noise such as fireworks, trainwhistles, etc.

We love the peacefulness of OKW, but it is a sprawling resort. If you rent enough points to ask for a villa near hospitality house you'll be near the hub and the main pool, but we still find it so quiet once you are inside your villa. We have never had a bad experience, however this year we waited too long to book and have to try SSR instead, but hopefully it's just as peaceful. We save the chaos for the parks!

I think any resort can be quiet ............ depends on time of year, depends on building/room location, depends on floor, depends on view.

Surprisingly some of my quietest stays have been at POP Century. With 30-ish stays I would say most were very quiet but we avoid preferred and main pool. DS and I spent 12 days one trip on upper floor lake view. On our L of the building we never saw or heard anyone the entire trip. We also enjoyed some very quiet stays at Coronado Springs in Ranchos. Wilderness Lodge was so intimate and peaceful.

Some of our loudest have been 2 stays at Music (Cheerleaders one trip, Police issues another), AKL (kids running up and down halls and pool facing room) and of course our BTG trips but that was all about timing, not resort.

I second the POR and POFQ suggestions. I would also think that the villas at WL would be on the quiet side. When we stayed at GF, we found the resort to always feel peaceful without being dull.

We have found how quiet/peaceful a resort is completely depends on the other guests sharing your resort.

THIS!!!! The only time we have ever been to POFQ we were there with multiple large cheer groups, absolutely NOTHING about the resort was even remotely quiet on that trip.

Our quietest trips have probably been at CSR or YC. However, if you have a particularly boisterous convention going on at the time, you may have a completely different experience at either of these resorts. The last time we stayed at YC it was so peaceful until the last day when the Gartner conference attendees arrived. Our loudest by far was POP, but I think that is just how the food court and shop area is set up that it always felt loud.

Thank you, everyone! This is very helpful. I'm thinking we'll try POFQ, Okw, or Saratoga Springs.

You are about five months or less out from April for a DVC reservation. Depending on when it is, you might have a hard time booking. But OKW and SSR usually fill last.

Keep in mind, a "small" resort at Disney World would be considered massive almost anywhere else.

The smallest moderate resort (Disney's Port Orleans - French Quarter) has just over 1,000 rooms spread out across multiple buildings. Out in the real world, a small hotel would have 100 to 200 rooms in a single building.

My vote is for French Quarter and when you check in just tell them please not near the pool. The river view rooms and very quiet.
