Quieter TS restaurants?

Hi all! We are planning an early December trip with 3 special needs tweens/teens. We are planning on taking either an early or a late lunch every day to give the kids a bit of a break. We would like to use TS restaurants, that aren't too terribly expensive, and would prefer to avoid any restaurants that are particularly loud and chaotic because the kids will already be in sensory overload from the morning at the park.

Can anyone give recommendations for quieter moderately priced TS restaurants? Or tell me the ones that are particularly chaotic and should be avoided in our case?

We would like one or two near MK, as well as something in or near EP and maybe one in/near AK as well. We prefer not to go off site, but resorts are OK, and we are more comfortable with ordering from the menu rather than a buffet due to multiple severe allergies for two of the kids. Love Disney's excellent allergy policies! This will be a rare treat for kids who almost never get to eat out (and their parents! :) ). Thanks!

Inside the parks is pretty tough to find quiet.

For MK, I'd probably head over to either the Grand Floridian Cafe at the Grand Floridian or to the Wave at the Contemporary.

For Epcot, perhaps San Angel Inn in the Mexican pavillian. Or you could walk over to the Captains Grille at the Yacht Club.

For AK, I would suggest heading over to AKL and eating at Sanaa. It has views of the animals on the savannah if you dine before dark.

Another great choice for a quieter meal is the Turf Club at SSR. I think it's one of the best 1TS credit restaurants but it's at SSR, not close to a park. If you were going to go there via bus to dine, you would exit at the Springs bus stop within the resort. It's the last of the 5 bus stops there.

Avoid Rainforest Cafe at all cost!
Biergarten is a family favorite for food, but is kind of frenetic.
Though the food isn't my favorite, the atmosphere at Coral Reef is quiet, lighting subdued.

We've dined at Coral Reef 7 times and 6 of those visits, the place has been a zoo. Very noisy. I would not recommend it for diners with sensory issues.

Now that i think of it, are there any quiet restaurants in disney?? :confused3 Im thinking the signature restaurants might be the only places that are quiet?

The Captain's Grill is very nice and pretty quiet. It is one of our new favorites. The food was very good and the prices not too bad. The Grand Floridian Cafe was another that we went to and it was very quiet. We didn't like the food so well though, okay just nothing great.

We ate at Coral Reef for dinner recently and I found it extremely loud. The lighting is subdued, but it was crazy! We've been before at lunch and it seemed quieter then.

I agree that in the parks all of the TS restaurants tend to be pretty loud.

You MUST avoid any restaurant that has "antics", singing, etc.
Coral Reef is usually pretty noisy when we eat there--mostly kids running back and forth up to the fish tank and back to their tables.
I'd take Pakeys suggestions.
Also I think Tony's at the MK is relatively quiet for dinner, tho it's been awhile since we've dined there.

Thank you for the suggestions! Sounds like the Grand Floridian Cafe is definitely on the list, and I will look into the others.

Disney and quiet don't exactly go together do they! ;) I guess I am just trying to avoid the really frenetic ones, and aim for quieter by comparison.

I am thinking the signature restaurants may be a bit of a budget stretch, as well as a little too formal and time consuming.

I guess if we can just avoid loud entertainment or music, or the ones where the tables are really squished together we'll be OK. For instance, when we travelled to Disneyland we ate at Cafe Orleans. We had an ADR for as soon as it opened, and sat in a corner on the patio (so we only had other diners to one side and behind us), and even though the restaurant was full and busy, there was no loud music/strange lighting and the only people really up and moving about were the CMs, so they did OK. I am hoping to find a similar level of "quiet" for our dining at WDW?

These are fine choices, though the tables in San Angel Inn are pretty close together and a concurrent indoor performance of the Mariachi Band would disqualify it.

In addition, I would consider: Kona Cafe in the Polynesian, and Tokyo Dining in Epcot.

I would echo San Angel. I also would add Narcoossee's and Yachtsman.

My suggestions:

Kona Cafe at the Poly
Captain's Grill at the Yacht Club
Trails' End at Ft. Wilderness

In our experience the resort TS are just about empty for lunch....we were the only ones having lunch at Kona at 1 in the afternoon! DTD is usually a ghost town Mon-Thur for lunch

The parks are very busy for lunch and can be quiet noisy.....

I believe Tutto Italia in Epcot was fairly quiet. I remember being in a smaller dining area which was very quiet.

This is great, thanks! I checked out the info on the suggested restaurants, and now I feel like I have a starting place for when I contact Disney about the allergies. Kona, The Captain's Grill, The Grand Floridian and possibly Sanaa all look like they might be good choices for us!

What about Les Chefs de France? My sons are big Ratatouille fans, and like French food. Is it crazy in there though?

I have to give you two thumbs up on this post. I agree 100% :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

It's a bustling French bistro atmosphere. It won't be as quiet as most of the restaurants already noted, but neither will it be as bad as, say, Biergarten or Whispering Canyon.

Certainly didn't find Coral Reef quiet. Maybe at the end of the night, but during lunch it was full of running, yelling kids. The effect was probably amplified because of the low ceiling.

OP - if you want your sons to see Remy at France, book lunch or early dinner (his last appearance is 5:20) and dont' book on a Sunday. He doesn't appear on Sundays.
