We've only stayed at the DL hotel. My sister thinks that because the GC is newer, that the rooms would have more soundproofing in them.
Has anyone stayed multiple times at both hotels to get a good idea of the noise level at each?
Our first time at DLH we were in a room overlooking DTD and it was surprisingly quiet - except a little noise filtered in on a Fri or Sat night. There was a band and then a sports game playing on a Jumbotron. But it didn't last all night and the sliding doors were pretty good at keeping the sound out. We didn't hear ANY neighboring rooms on either side, above or below us or anyone in the hallway.
The second time at DLH we were "upgraded" to a suite that was really run down. It did have more space but the bathroom was extremely small and cramped. It was the tower by the Koi pond. It was quiet outside when you opened the sliding doors, but the walls seemed SO thin, you could hear neighbors on both sides, doors slamming, kids running up and down the halls, even regular volume speech was audible. It also seemed like every door had room service trays outside in the AM that weren't picked up by the end of the day. This was early Sept. about 4 years ago. Low crowds and weekdays.
Are the walls thinner at DLH? Have they changed this with the recent remodel? Or did we just get a super noisy hallway that trip?
I'd like to stay at the DLH again, partly because of the remodel but partly because the GCH's rooms are smaller and dark and cost more. The lobby is beautiful but the rest of the theming doesn't thrill me.
