What quieter things are there to do at WDW.

We loved the old Discovery Island back in 1998. In 2005 we took the boat to Fort Wilderness and had lunch which was also a lovely escape from Theme Park mania.

What else is there that we can do for a few moments of calm in the peak summer season?

Sit in the rose garden at MK with an ice-cream.

Walk around the Boardwalk - perhaps takinn in a round of mini golf at Fantasia (near the Swan & Dolphin)

Go to Rafikis planet watch at AK

Hire a boat (we always enjoy doing this)

I'm sure there are lots more!:)

we like to walk the grounds of the hotel Coranardo springs is realy nice and at pop round hour glass lake

Watch the Electrical Water Pageant from the beach of one of the MK resorts around Bay Lake. If you're not staying at one of the MK resorts catch a boat from MK and get off at the resort of your choice. You can find out the schedule for the Water Pageants stops from Guest Services at the park or any of the hotels. The Water Pageant is staged for the MK boat dock as well as each resort but if you watch it there you'll be standing among thousand of tired (and possibly cranky) people. Whereas on a resort beach there will likely only be a few other guests (if any at all) making this one of the quietest, gentlest ways to spend a perfect bit of Disney time on a warm summer evening. The Water Pageant is one of the oldest entertainments at WDW, starting way back when there was only the Magic Kingdom. It's very low tech, slightly old fashioned, and decidedly Disney. Watching it makes me feel like I've been sent back in time to the beginning of WDW.

The Friendship boat from Epcot to DHS is one of my favourite ways to chill at WDW, even when i've visited WDW in the summer it's never been busy in the middle of the day.

The American Adventure in Epcot and The Hall of Presidents in MK are allways good for a quiet half hour. Usually end up nodding off. :rolleyes1

Go to Tom Sawyer's Island and wander through the fort and feed the ducks further along the trail follow it with a frozen treat from Aunt Polly's and sit on the porch in the rocking chairs watching the Liberty Belle pass by and see the afternoon parade in peace.

If you're in MK jump on the Liberty Belle - it's lovely to stand up top at the front and watch the world go by as the boat does it's lap of the river.

We also do a once round the park on the train for a rest.

I also can't say enough about the peoplemover - lovely
