Quiet Place for a Zoom

I just accepted a new job at a local university on the condition that my start date be after our upcoming Universal trip. They were generally able to accommodate, but did ask me to join a zoom to meet with incoming students. The zoom is in the middle of the day during a day we plan to be at Volcano Bay with friends. (They are coming special to meet us, so we can't just move our VB day).

Does anyone have suggestions for where I might be able to do my zoom without having to return to the resort? We are staying at Royal Pacific, which I understand requires a bus ride to and from VB. Particularly with the limited hours later this month, it would be great not to lose a big chunk of park time travelling back and forth. However, I also don't want to take a work zoom sitting by the lazy river sipping a pina colada. (Now that I have typed that, I kind of do want to take the call that way -- but, alas, it probably wouldn't be fair to the students).

Thanks in advance for any advice on this.

Thank you for the reality check. I will have to put on my big kid pants and explain the situation and see if they really need me for this meeting.

Congratulations on the new position. I hope this is PAID time for you to go back to hotel & log in. I saying that being in higher ed knowing that my vacation at Universal in 2 week will not be work free. :tilt:

Thank you. It won't be paid as I don't start officially until I return from vacation. That is why the reality check about logistics makes me realize I should talk this through before agreeing. At the very least, it would be good for everyone to know that I am giving up a big chunk of vacation time to pitch in.

Yeah, VB would be particularly problematic if anyone were to walk in your background. Virtual backgrounds aren't foolproof.

If you don't return to the resort (which is what I'd recommend) if they insist on you being there, would be to get a cabana or the premium seating. At least you could control what is behind you. The big issue then will be the sounds.

In Volcano Bay, there's an area to the left of the main restaurant is large (pavilion style) that is fairly quiet, the other option is to use a "Family Restroom" if the meeting doesn't run too long. You could also walk to Cabana Bay or Aventura/Sapphire and find a quiet spot there, there's a large indoor convention space bridging Sapphire Falls and Royal Pacific (You can literally walk between the hotels entirely in AC) that may have an open room you can pop into briefly too.

Thank you both. I was thinking strictly in terms of noise, but you are 100% correct that I don't want any bathing suit clad folks behind me. Walking to one of the nearby resorts sounds like a really good option. I don't love being at the mercy of buses to make a meeting.
