Quiet Eating

I'd rather not spend 2 TS credits for a Signature Meal, but I really like my sit down meals to be relaxed. This means character meals are out but what's in?

I know Le Cellier is pretty calm if I can get it, and Chefs de France is a good one.

What other recommendations do you have?

Does it have to be in the parks? If not, some better choices might be:

Wave
Kona
Grand Floridian Cafe


But any restaurant at Disney isn't really going to be very quite. Artist Point and Citricos would tend to be more relaxing, but you said you didn't really want to do signatures. I actually think that because you tend to be seated so close at Le Cellier and Chefs, I wouldn't classify it as quiet. Of course compared to a character meal it would be.

I've been to Disney several times before..so I know not to expect too much at meal times...but I also know that places like The Sci-Fi Diner will be more noiser than say Restaurant Marrakesh.

Restaurant Marrakesh can be pretty "lively", it's good & great atmosphere but not necessarily quiet. Personally I think Kona gets a little loud being off the lobby, but that's JMHO.

LeCellier & Chefs are both very good. I would recommend Turf Club at SSR, Olivia's at OKW The Wave & GFC are on my list to try

I love Tutto Italia!

I've been wanting to try the Turf Club...I've never been to SSR and would love to see the grounds.

I actually think Sci-Fi is quieter than Marrakesh. I think the entertainment options at both lend to different things. The movies at Sci-Fi tend to get people to watch them (plus the cars don't lend to conversation) and the music at Marrakesh lends to people talking louder over the music. JMHO.

I don't tend to notice noise unless it is really overwhelming, so most of my meals I don't tend to notice too much craziness going on around me and find most relaxing.

My suggestion for a quiet place: Captains Grill at Yatch Club

I also think Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch is relaxing. The tables aren't too close together and the restaurant is split into several rooms which spread the people out. Same goes for Yak & Yeti.

I think of Mama Melrose for being fairly calm as well.

Just a few thoughts.

We found that Spoodles' is less crowded than most.

Tokyo Dining is fairly quiet IF you sit away from the podium and lobby area. Teppan Edo is super noisy. Those exhasut fans over the grills sound like jet engines to me and all talking at the tables is louder to be heard over them.

Nine Dragons is faiirly quiet, but the tables are very close together. Tables very close in Chefs de France too, and not very quiet since you can hear everyone talking at the nearby tables. Same with LeCellier, close tables and overheard conversations.

Tutto Italia is usually quiet too, unless you get a loud group seated near you.

Sci Fi is the quietest restaurant that we have ever been too...the burgers were great too!

In Sci Fi the people are quiet - they are busy watching the movies. If the sound from the movies doesn't count, it'd be the quietest place on property.

I've never had much luck predicting how relaxing a meal might be. I never guess right! One of the LOUDEST meal experiences I've ever had was at Artist Point. Several families who were vacationing together came in and between all of them I'd say there were 14 kids total. Oh my goodness the noise. They screamed and threw things. They knocked over chairs, glasses...each other...and one crawled across the table. My husband and I couldn't hear each other speak. It was crazy.

Everyone was eventually moved to the other side of the restaurant leaving the loudest people on earth by themselves. The parents never did anything about the behavior either...lots of wine at the table!

anyhow...you never can tell how noisy or relaxed a place may be. Unless you go to V&A...kids aren't allowed.



adults can be just as rowdy! Disney brings out the kid in everybody!!

Our last trip we found Spoodles to be fairly quiet and relaxed. Kona seems to have a chill vibe as well. Also the Grand Floridian Cafe has always been fairly quiet when we've gone! I agree with the assessment of Sci Fi as well...it's a quiet experience...people are busy watching and eating! The food is great too!!!

I really agree with Tutto Italia. It was an enjoyable dinner and very good food. I also tend to think of Coral Reef as quiet, especially with the low lighting there.

I have thought Coral Reef, when crowded, to be extremely noisy.

I have never been to Sci-fi, but will be for the time in June. Who would thought that it is quiet there I have this weird notion that it will be super noisy.

Any of the restaurants can be noisy and loud. From my experiences, it really depends on what time of day you go. Off-times (think 2-3pm especially - this is when I usually make my lunch ADR's), you may find yourself the only person in your section of the dining room. The easiest way to eliminate noise is to go when nobody else will be there.

Here are some of the places I've eaten at where I've been one of five or fewer guests in the restaurant at that time:

Akershus Princess Storybook Dining lunch - went reeeally late in the afternoon for lunch, there was only a couple other families there, so the princesses basically started dancing with the 3-4 little girls, it was sooo cute and DEFINITELY not noisy
Tony's - lunch
Restaurant Marrakesh late lunch - I honestly can't remember seeing another soul there, I was seated right next to a couple who were just leaving
Liberty Tree Tavern - walked up for dinner right before Wishes with no ADR. Just a mom and her little girl in my dining room, the three of us quietly watched Wishes from the window
Rose and Crown late lunch - sit outside, even if it's hot...ten to one you'll get a nice breeze off the lagoon and all the noisy people are inside with the A/C
Nine Dragons late lunch - my FAVORITE place to go, the CMs there always remember me and seat me at the same table
Kona Cafe late lunch - only person in the left-hand side (near the Sushi bar)

It's all about timing!!
