we are staying at POR and are planning on ordering from Garden Grocer but would like to get some beer or wine at cheaper-than-Disney prices. What is the quickest way to do this from POR? Boat to Disney Springs and walk to the Gas station? Skip garden grocer and uber to a grocer? Will the uber wait? Never done this. Is alcohol cheaper in the shop at the resort than at the pool bar or lounge? Do I sound like a drunk yet?

Does garden grocer not deliver beer and wine anymore? We used to get it by putting our list in the comments section on the order form but that was almost 3 years ago....

No, you don't sound like a drunk yet:) it's vacation. I totally get it! I always bring my own vodka in my checked luggage, packed very well in a special "wine diaper", never had a problem in many trips. But, last time we used Garden Grocer, I contacted them and had alcohol added to the order. Also, I heard that Safeway now delivers to Disney resorts, maybe something to look into. You can also buy a lot of different wines and liquors at Epcot and carry them out with you, still expensive but maybe more fun than an Uber trip off property. Have fun!!

I found the beer on garden grocer. I will probably pack my own liquor in the luggage and then just replace the empty bottle with stuff I buy while tipsy lol

Take Uber or a cab (if you don't have a car) over to ABC Fine Wines and Spirits over near the Winn Dixie on S. Apopka Vineland Rd. They have a good selection and good prices.

Garden Grocer definitely has beer and wine on their site. I am not sure if they are licensed to sell hard liquor or not. You can Email and ask them.
We always get beer and wine to supplement our water and food supplies.
Have Fun

Personally, I would save the GG fee and make an Uber run to a grocery store. The GG fee would be about the same as an Uber RT. This way you can pick exactly what you want, cheaper prices, and save a ton. An example was at BWV. I went to the pool bar, got a Bud alumibottle. It was $7. I walked away with it, walked over to the then Hess, bought an 8-pack of alumibottles for $8. The best part was I brought a little cooler down on the Boardwalk to watch the Superbowl right outside ESPN bar. Was much more enjoyable having my $1 beers than the $7 beers sold there.

Where is the Hess station?

Its something else now, but it is right at the entrance to Boardwalk.
Good to know in case we don't order enough from garden grocer. If it wasn't such a pain in the butt, I would due a test run on our packing and try to pack cereal and then just uber to the gas station for alcohol and milk but that would just be trying too hard lol

Where is the Hess station?

There are 2 and is no longer Hess I think it is speedway...
take the bus to DS when you get off the bus look towards the main road you will see a walkway that crosses over the road, walk over the road make a right it is a few minutes form here.. maybe a 10 minute walk over all.
the 2nd is near the Boardwalk hotel.. get off the bus walk past the hotel entrance and around when you get to the main road make a left walk to the light.... you will see where it is but do not cross when you get to the main road as there is no walkway into the station and you will be walking on grass and not a god idea in Florida. maybe 10 minutes as well.
they have an OK selection of beer just the normal brands Coors, Bud, Corona etc. at good prices... they also have a small selection of wine mostly Barefoot and one other brand in double bottles. The Barefoot I want to say was 8 or 9 not a great price but not by far Disney markup... you can also get some decent wine in Epcot of you stop in the countries that is marked up but not that bad...
if you go to the gas station bring a back pack........

Thanks! I am thinking we might actually go to Epcot on arrival night then my husband will walk to the boardwalk the over to the gas station and then uber back to the resort while the kids and I take the bus. Although my gut tells me that he's going to want to go with Garden Grocer for the convenience.

POR Uber to and from will be about $8. No reason walking all that way IMO. The Uber driver will wait for you to run in and then take you back. It won't be that much money. It is 5 miles round trip with a 5 minute stop at most.

Garden Grocer has a $40 minimum order and a $14 delivery fee and is worth every dollar in convenience and quality.
We order beer, wine, case(s) of water, juice, coffee fruit, breakfast foods, cheese, crackers, and other snacks. We easily make the $40 minimum.
I checked one year and I saved the delivery fee just from the savings of carrying our own water into the parks rather than buying bottles there. I don't want to go to quick service for free small cups of water everytime I need a sip. Eating a quick breakfast in the room saves both time and money.
My time on vacation is worth a lot to me.

Yes, it is easy to hit the $40 minimum. The issue is the $14 fee. I am more than willing to take Uber to get much better prices and do it myself.

This!!! We always have no trouble meeting the minimum. We buy a couple cases of bottled water, distilled water, milk, chips, cookies, breakfast items, pump hand soap, laundry detergent, ziploc bags, paper towels/bowls/plates, beer, wine, yogurt, fruit, cheese, and sunblock. It saves us from having to pack so much in our suitcases and it saves time. I do not want to waste my precious vacation time in a grocery store.

I have found their customer service great too. They have searched and found bottles of wine, sand buckets/toys, and specialty allergy friendly foods in the past. One year they only delivered one package of cookies and we had ordered two. I did not even notice and the next day they dropped off the extra package of cookies with a note. Totally worth the it for our family :flower:

Just an example of how we are all different.
My time is worth more than $14 in a grocery store while at Disney. I work hard and save and sacrifice all year for my vacation to Disney and I am not spending one minute in a grocery store when someone else does a nice job of doing it for me
Garden Grocer all the way for me
