What is our quickest option for airport transportation and cost? We are flying evening last date, but would rather spend most of the day at the resort not the airport - thanks.

Quickest is taxi, Über, or Lyft. Best for cost is clearly Magical Express. Time saved by paying for the ride, 30 minutes tops.

But you do really need to get to the airport at least two hours before your flight (if domestic). MCO is a very busy airport with the most nonsensical tsa employees I've dealt with (and I'm not anti TSA as a rule, but MCO hires the odd ones more Han other airports I've been through) and it can take an hour just for security.

You would hate to end a relaxing day at the resort with a mad dash through the airport.

So...private/hired vehicle or magical express, you'll want to leave around three hours before the flight anyway...

3 hours is reasonable - somewhere I had read that Magical Express would arrange pick up like 5 hours prior to flight time.

DME had always picked up guests, flying domestically, about 3 hrs prior to flight time. It's 4 hrs international.
If using a cab, Uber, or car service, you can leave the resort 2.5 hrs prior. Or, if you gave smallish carry in bags, you can get picked up (cab, Uber, car service) either at a park or a nearby resort.
If using DME, you should plan on leaving the park at least an hour prior to your stated pick up time, and be at the DME bus stop no less than 10 mins prior to the pick up time!

Magical Express, all the way. I don't think 3 hours is enough, personally, in some instances.

A few weeks ago we were outside, soaking up the sun, an hour before our 10am departure. The 9am bus came, offered us a lift, and we took it. It then went to POFQ, OKW, and SSR before going to the airport. After getting off, getting our luggage (our airline did not participate in RAC), checking our luggage, using the bathroom, eating a quick meal at BK, and getting through security, we were sitting at less than an hour before our flight. If we had grabbed the later bus, we would have been RUNNING...not the way I want to end my vacation.

I would much rather end my vacation relaxing at the airport than relaxing by the pool and running for my gate..

I have yet to need more than 3 hrs. When I use a car service, I have them pick me up 2.5 hrs prior to departure. I've been the first resort picked up, I've been the last stop. I don't think I've ever been on the bus for more than 20 mins until we left WDW property. But, I tend to get something to eat at the resort and am able to use RAC, usually anyway!! The few times I've had checked bags with me (early morning flight), it adds about 15 mins to my time. Of course, those are the times I have to grab a breakfast sandwich at the airport!!! As long as I'm sitting at the gate 15 mins prior to the start of boarding, I'm okay. And no, I don't enjoy rushing around either!!! Nasty way to end a nice vacation.

But, if speed is of the essence, I would take a cab back to MCO. And check my bags with RAC before heading to a park.
