I am arriving by town car and figure that it will be easier to walk to MK from one of the area MK resorts then to be dropped off at the TTC (and pay the gate fee! ). I am trying to get there for rope drop.

So, what resort is the most accessible to MK, either by foot or monorail?

Thanks!

They no longer allow this for Guests parking their own car. Don't know if it will be different in a town car. Each Resort has a Security CM at the entrance to the parking lot. If you're not a Resort Guest (at that Resort, not just WDW), they won't let you park there unless you have ADRs to dine at one of the restaurants, in which case you'll get a 3-hour parking pass.

However, if the driver is just dropping you off and won't be parking, there is an area at the side of the TTC to do this without paying the parking fee. Keep to the right when you go through the "toll booths" and the parking attendent will direct you. You still have to take the monorail or ferry, however.

Or you could *try* to have the driver drop you off at the walkway from the Contemporary, if you explain to the Security CM that the driver just needs to turn around/drop you off and won't be parking. The Grand Floridian is a quick monorail ride as well.

I haven't used a town car in a while, but don't most of them charge extra for customers going to the Magic Kingdom-area resorts? So the OP wouldn't save any money by asking to be dropped off at a resort instead of the TTC?

A few years ago I flew into Orlando right before MVMCP (my family had gotten there a few days earlier and brought my luggage so I only had my carry on). I wasn't trying to save money, I was just trying to get to the party asap. I took a taxi and explained my situation. When he got to the TTC he told them I was staying at the Contemporary, but when we got there he kept going straight like the buses go to the MK. Right where the buses turn in, he did a U-turn and stopped. I jumped out and walked to the MK from there. He got me there from MCO in about 35 minutes! (And I gave him a big tip!)

Contemporary is definitely the most accessible by foot (actually, it is the ONLY one accessible by foot.

That said, the towncar will probably still charge the parking to you, but am not certain.

The towncar companies that I have been looking at for our trip deliver you to your resorts for no extra charge.

All you have to do is say you are checking in to the Contemporary and have the Town Car driver take you to the Contemporary. I don't think they'll be any extra charge.

Then you can walk or monorail to MK from the Contemporary.

as the security guy at the front gate will want to see your ID if you are "checking in"...it might be wise to say you are having a meal at Chef Mickeys/concourse steakhouse...and just be dropped off.

Yes, that's true. I forgot. They do ask your last name and check for the name on a list.

Best thing to do is say you just want to check out the resort or just say the town car driver is dropping you off or you could get dropped off right before the security gate and just follow the walkway to MK!

Wow! I did not think it would be as complicated as all this! There is no concern about the town car fee. I am being picked up from the Portofino Bay over at Universal an being delivered to Pop Century. I have asked the driver to wait while I stow my luggage and get my tickets, and then take me over to the Contemporary. I figured I could walk from there, but then I had heard that the GF is closer and figured I would post here.

FYI In the past when I have asked how much it would cost for a ride to a theme park, I was given the price not including the gate fee and was told that sometimes they charge the towncars the $9 and sometimes they don't. If the driver was charged, we would pay. If not, we would not pay the extra. I figured if I went to a hotel, I could avoid this issue all together and perhaps get a bit closer than the TTC.

There is no need to go through the security booth at the Contemporary. You can get dropped off before the booth right where the walkway to MK crosses the road. This will actually put you closer to the MK than if you started at the CR.
