Hi...

We'll be staying the Polynesian this December. I'm wondering if anyone has some thoughts on which is quicker and less of a hassle: getting to the MK before opening by the Polynesian's boat launch, or using the monorail. Also, what is the quickest and least crowded way to get back at closing?

Thanks so much for your help!

Chas

We found the boat launch to be the quickest when we were there this past July. Usually no line, either. On the way FROM the MK back to the Polynesian, the boat stops first at the Grand Floridian, then on to the Polynesian. But on the way TO the MK, it has already been to the GF, so goes directly back to the MK :)

Hi...

Sounds like we'll be using the boat launch then. Thanks!

Does the Polynesian list the times for the launch, or do you just go out and wait for the next available launch to come by?

Chas

I find the monorail quicker. We stayed at the Poly and also stayed at the WL. Both have boats to MK... but we usually take the monorail from Poly.. and the bus to MK from the WL. I just find taking the boat sooo slooow. That is my experience. So monorail/bus for us.

I don't remember ever waiting more than a few minutes for the next boat to arrive. It's a very small "circuit" that the boats make, so even if you just miss one, there's another one arriving shortly. There is no schedule, they just keep running continuously. :boat:

Hi Telly :)

We loved taking the monorail from the Polynesian to the MK, too :) To me, it's like a ride/attraction in itself :earboy2:

I agree regarding the bus from the WL. It was a much longer ride, and often the boat stopped at Fort Wilderness first, so that made the trip longer, too. I guess our family just enjoyed the boat experience, so didn't mind the extra time, but I see what you mean regarding the time it takes.

Maybe at the Polynesian it depends which longhouse you're in? We were in the Hawaii building and it just seemed quicker to walk to the boat launch. Although, on some of the very hot days, we did walk to the GCH to cool off in the A/C, then onto the Air-conditioned monorail :teeth:

Hi Terry! You know what it is... we usually stop at the CC food court before heading out to MK. And since we're right there.. we just take the monorail.. And we have been lucky that we're always on time as the monorail pulls in. And what it is too is that my children just loves taking the monorail. It's really fun for them.. and for me too. My son said the boat takes too long... so monorail it is! The same goes for WL... my son said not to take the boat, he prefers the bus. And he is right. The bus doesn't take that long to get to MK even with a stop at Ft Wildereness. The bus is usually half empty cause most of the guests take the boat. OH... Just talking about the Poly and the WL just wanna make me go back right now! Oh I think I'm getting homesick! UGH!

Where is our resident expert on all things Poly?

This is a good question since I am interested in the "fastest" transportation too.

So TIKIMAN, what do you think????

Hi, I just got back from the Poly last week. I found the water launch from the marina at the Poly to be the quickest. There is also a launch from the TTC, but it took longer to load and unload. The monorail seemed like it took longer than the water launch. Really, you can't go wrong with whatever you choose. Getting to the MK from the Poly could not be easier.

I agree it depends on which longhouse you are in. From Tahiti, we could see the Ferry coming into the TTC and by the time we left our room and walked to the TTC dock, it was ready to leave. It was pretty fast. To ride the Monorail it, took longer to walk to GCH.

The boats start at 7:30 -- sitting on my balcony I could see them coming across the lagoon.

I think quicker just depends on where your longhouse is.
