Ok ladies. I'm desperate. I've got just one month to go, and it has been a very stressful battle to lose each pound. I don't know what else to do. I have my final gown fitting in 3 weeks, and i'm close, but not close enough. So here's what I'm thinking. I have a spa finder gift card and I was thinking about going to a wellness spa near me. They're having a special for one of those slimming body wraps. you're "guaranteed" to lose 6-20 inches your first visit. I know that it helps with skin toning and firming, and I don't think thats its really a gimmick, but I'd like to know if anyone has ever tried one of these, and what were your results? I'm so desperate, i've even thought about having a colonic. I know that celebrities do these alot for quick weight loss. Please help! I'm doing everything else that I can, eating right, excercising, getting plenty of rest. Just need another boost.

You lose water on these things so once you start drinking it goes back on, its ok if you are going out that night!

I found by not eating bread I lost alot of weight! I'm allergic to wheat and when it was diagnosed I lost 4.5 stone roughly 63 pounds it just fell off

cut your calories back big time to about 1200-1400 & stay clear of all junk food & do lots of walking...if its only 2 weeks it wont be to bad & when the wedding is over you can focus on a healthier diet;)

aslo i heard those negative calorie diets arent bad...just dont push it, if you feel faint..stop immediately

as for those wraps....i heard 2-3 inches is what a lot of people actually loss & that the 20 is a "results not typical' thing.

good luck:thumbsup2

For the two weeks before my wedding, I tried to eat more protein and veggies than I normally do (and thus less carbs). I dropped an extra pound or two (which came right back during the honeymoon, I might add). Similar to the no-eating-bread thing, I guess.

But be careful! Don't do anything that's going to endanger your body for the long term. The photos aren't worth *that* much! Good luck!

Don't starve yourself. Your body won't let go of anything if you're not getting enough nutrition. Just go for lots of long walks, drink plenty of fluids, and eat lots of fruits, veggies and protein.

Oh, and those body wraps just get rid of water. Like orangetiggs said, once you start replacing the water, back come the inches!

There is no quick fix, sadly. Just keep up the good work and fight the good fight!

Cut carbs and don't eat late! You can incorporate carbs back in after the wedding. For my friends wedding I stopped eating bread, rice and potatoes for a whole month and drank water ONLY with my meals- I lost 10 pounds in 3weeks!!! :woohoo: (gained it all back of course:sad2:) Usually the trick to maintaining weightloss is a balanced, healthy, diet, but this is an exception, ofcourse!

Eating late also does a number to your body, so try to eat before 7pm and if you get hungry, limit yourself to your fav fruit w/water. It clears up your skin and you feel great in the morning (besides other things...) Dinner should be the lightest meal of the day.

Oh yeah, try to walk everwhere!:thumbsup2

Are you into running? Run, run, run, run......I love running and it's one of the best ways to burn calories. Like everyone and also yourself said a healthy diet is crucial. Stick with good wholesome foods. Fish and chicken breasts are great. As long as your getting some good cardio time in complex carbs aren't bad. I just don't eat comp carbs after a certain time. I love cardio....running, biking and swimming. Please make sure your careful at what you try...losing to much weight or water can be dangerous in such a short period. Make sure you keep yourself well hydrated through these exercises. Probably didn't say anything you didn't know but for losing weight i've always seen this to be a good guideline. Not to many short cuts.

I agree with this. Don't starve yourself, but definitely cut back calories. Drink a lot of water, steer clear of too much sodium, and exercise your butt off. Cardio and weights. At least an hour a day. Alternate the weights, upper body one day, lower body the next. Maybe take a rest day if you need it, but cardio every day. If you're not really exercising too much right now, a brisk walk will be good. If you're already exercising, then jogging/running will be good.

If anything, the weight lifting will tone you up and tighten the inches.

Good luck! :goodvibes You can do it! ...but be safe and healthy about it. I would definitely steer clear of any gimmicky things.

One good thing to do also is very your workout routine. It sounds as if you already have one in place. If you have been doing the same stuff (walking or the same weights), your body will get use to it. Your body adjusts and learns how to use it (and store it unforunately). By varying your workout, you keep your body from adjusting and it will continue to use all your energy.

everyone else has given such great advice already.. I only have one thing to add... try to get in as much physical activity as possible.

I've been getting up early before work (around six) so I can do some yoga or pilates in the morning (even if I only get 15 - 20 minutes, it's still something!) then I have started talking long walks on my lunchbreak at work. In the evenings DF and I go out and he jogs while I walk then maybe three to four nights I week I TRY to do at least a half hour on the nordictrack in addition to the walking.

and the biggest thing to remember with working out is BE CONSISTENT!!

I agree- just cut your calories a lot, but make sure you eat at LEAST 1,200 calories or else your body will go into starvation mode and actually retain the weight instead of lose it! And exercise a lot! Make it your top priority... it will be worth it!

I also did the special k diet a while ago and it worked for quick weightloss because it also brings you daily calorie intake down. Mix it up with different special k products (smoothies/yogurts)... eat the protein plus special k cereal to make it more substantial. Have fruit and veggies as a snack with a very sensible and healthy dinner (veggies and protein). Maybe that will help? The weight will come back though... it eventually did for me, so now I'm trying to let it come off the right way because I have the time (at least for now!)

Good luck!!! :goodvibes I'm sure you will be a beautiful bride!

The south beach diet is a great way to go. I did it and lost 14 pounds in 2 weeks and ended up losing 30 pounds throughout the 6 weeks. i did the diet plus I did either a 20 min walk or an upbeat 20 min workout video in the morning, and pilates at night. Good luck, and drink lots and lots of water, also I found green tea pils helped boost metabolism, and it's also a diuretic, as is drinking green tea.

I am doing what I like to call the "$5, non invasive lap band" LOL. Go buy a belt and pull it snug. Keep the belt on from the time you get up to the time you go to bed. When you eat, only eat until the belt starts feeling a little uncomfortable, then stop. The belt seems to make me aware of the fact that I am eating and aware of when I am full. Since January, I have lost 36 pounds and the only change that I have made is wearing the belt.

Search: The Master's Cleanse.
Works very well, takes ALOT of will power.

South Beach would be my second choice and may work if you find The Master's Cleanse difficult to follow

Good Luck

I love that idea! Seriously what a great idea, each time the belt gets tight you start thinking I better eat less. Im going out to get a belt now lol.

But also make sure to take a multi vitamin for women while your ideting and pretty much all the time. I have some with green tea which help to rev uyp your metabolism. They're great! hth

Dont get discouraged!!! Everyone here has given such good advice....just continue to eat healthy and be active and the weight will come off....another tip...stay away from diet drinks...even though they have no calories they still have alot of sodium...replacing diet drinks with water will help:thumbsup2

YES Diet drinks , stay off... and white bread (even those who ALMOST do not! look white) do not let it get close to your mouth.
Do not fry in oil or butter .. use oven or grill as much as possible.... try eat chicken , not pork and steak.
start day with oatmeal and milk. loads of fruit and veggies. eat many times a day and no later than 7 pm.... go for an evening walk or run.. get loads of sleep everyday.
but as everyone say .... out and move araound... as much as possible, get the heart rate up and sweat dripping.
U will make it .. and congratz ..... how wonderful.

I agree with this, I tried this back at the begining of the year and lost 12 pounds in a week!

Good luck.:grouphug:

I just figured I was whatever weight I was - getting healthy/losing weight is a lifelong process, it's taken me 4 years to shed 80 pounds. I actually gained a little weight before my wedding, but I still looked good (and have lost it and more since then).

What a great job!!!!!! Also, a very good philosophy! As I mentioned before, wearing a belt has helped me lose weight. The main reason is because I needed to stop mindlessly eating. I need to know exactly everything that is going into my mouth, and think about if I am really hungry or if I am just bored. The belt helps me do that.

I am also learning portion control. Our portions are so grossly warped that it is no wonder that there are so many people over weight. I know I was kind of shocked when I first started measuring out food!

I also am of the mentality that I spent my 20's and half of my 30's being fat.. and I don't want to do that anymore. I want to be healthy and enjoy my life with my df!!
