My wife and I woke up this morning and decided to go to Orlando July 6 for 3 nights. Kids will be with grandparents and we are going on the cheap side. Has anyone stayed at microtel off of I drive? We just need a clean place to sleep after going to IOA and a night at Citywalk. I reserved a room here for $42 a night.

I have not stayed there but I have stayed at the Days Inn on Sand Lake Rd. It is about a mile from US and IoA. The rate was only $30 during the week and $34 on the weekend. Definitely not my favorite hotel of all time but decent and cheap and in a good location. If interested, go to www.daysinn.com and type in your destination and dates in the yellow box. It will pull up all of the Days Inns in Orlando. It is listed as the Days Inn Lakeside West of Universal Studios.

First, let me say that I would agree with Family of 14. For just the two of you, I would definitely do Priceline. I'm sure you can get a nice hotel for $42.00.

That being said, we stayed at that Microtel last month. We paid $40.00 through Hotel Kingdom. It was just fine. It was clean, and the beds were good. You also get breakfast in the morning. I really didn't have any complaints. The carpeting was beginning to show signs of wear but that's about the only negative thing I can say. It's certainly not fancy, but it's a decent place to stay.

BTW, we didn't do Priceline because we're a family of four and Priceline only guarantees double occupancy. Orlando is probably the best market to take the chance but we got burned when we stayed in Atlanta and booked through Priceline. They put us in a Sierra Suites. Nice hotel, but the rooms have a queen bed only. Luckily, management was able to give us a room that also had a sleep sofa. Otherwise, we would have been up the creek.

Enjoy your stay.

Thanks for your advice. When just the two of us go we usually don't spend a lot of time in the room. So clean and close to the action is a major plus. We have stayed at days inn lakeside before just want to try something different.

I would go on priceline. We did it last year in july and we got the Wyndham resort for $32 a night. It was awesome!

Congrats on the trip!
