We just returned from a 3 night stay at the Poly following our cruise. The place is beautiful, wonderful, all of the the things posted previously. I had changed our ressie from the AKL back when they were moving people and when I did, I mentioned to the CM that we had been looking forward to our AKL pool view. Evidently, she put that in as a request and we got ground floor Samoa facing the volcano pool! Number 1603 to be exact. I LOVE this location. It was ideal for our family. Close to the GCH, spitting distance to the pool and beach, and only a beautiful 10 minute walk to the TTC for monorail access to Epcot.
Our only issue was mousekeeping. We checked in at 10:30 and were not surprised that the room wasn't ready. No biggie, we headed to DTD. Well as we were headed back at 2:30 (I didn't expect the room until 3pm), I called and was told that the room wasn't ready and they would have housekeeping put a rush on it. BIG mistake. We got into the room at 3:30 and there was a used razor and bar of soap in the shower, the coffee pot was full of old coffee and grounds and some linens were in a wadded heap on the closet floor. We didn't let this bother us, hey we were at WDW and the Poly no less. The final straw, however, was two days later when we returned to the room to find DS's(7) new light saber that he had built at DTD folded up in the sofa bed and was too damaged to even open. We weren't even using the sofa bed so I don't know why the mousekeeper had opened it. My husband took the light saber to the front desk and politely explained how important this was to our son. He had been saving for it for months and was devastated. That evening, the repaired light saber was in our room, with a note and photo from Buzz Lightyear. Disney is just amazing.
Bottom line, the Poly is a beautiful resort and I would love to stay there again!
