Quick trip to book Bounce Back make sense?

Hello! We're planning a family trip (5 adult age people) this coming May to celebrate twin daughters college graduation. My dates in May are flexible, but we're thinking of a 9 night stay. Thanks to you wonderful Dis folks :thanks:, I see there's a free dining bounce back offer available at the very end of May 2019 if I stay on-site to book it before the end of October 2018. A little research has revealed that I can travel from PWM (Portland, ME) to WDW 9/11 - 9/13 for $367 including my flight and 2 nights at ASMo. My calculations for the QS dining plan for 5 adult age people for nine nights show it would cost us around $2,363. Seems like a no-brainer to make a quick trip down and save almost $2,000. Or am I missing something?? We're not picky about our resort (we usually go for two rooms at POP for price, number of beds and bathrooms) - so long as it's on property and doesn't require a second mortgage. Advice, red flags, etc. all very much appreciated!!! THANK YOU! :disrocks:

I just did this, but I didn't have to fly (although one night at Pop and gas for 1200 miles of driving isn't much cheaper than your cost for your flight and two nights). We are traveling fourth of July week next year with six Disney adults (including two teenagers and two early-20s), so I stayed one night at Pop to book a 2 br villa with free dining for six nights. We don't usually do the dining plan, but I know our family will want plenty of snacks and sit-down meals, so free dining appears to be a better discount than any room discount they might offer. I'm prepared to cancel and rebook if a better deal comes out, but it was worth 20 hours in the car over two days to know we can all be in the same room and to know most food costs are covered.

Awesome!! Do I need to have a theme park ticket too, or is the resort stay enough to qualify?

I am doing this next Tuesday - flying down Tuesday and coming home Wednesday - saving over 600.00 for next December. Wasn’t planning on doing parks since it was only one night but there is a Halloween party on Tuesday night and that is my favorite party so, I am heading to MK at 4:00

Just the resort stay, but you have to physically be there. Someone on the other thread thought it might be enough to reserve and pay for a room and check in online, but she wasn't able to book the bounceback.

You need to include tickets with your bounceback booking (I think at least four day hoppers?), but you just need to be staying at a Disney resort to be able to book.

Lucky you! I was hoping I would be there on a party night, but it didn't work out that way. It ended up pouring the entire evening that I was there, so I didn't go to a park. Usually rain won't stop me, but I didn't want to buy a one day ticket and find out SDD was shut down for lightning. :sad1:

Wonderful! Thank you!

It all depends on how much you will potentially save.

Many variables come to play. Family size, resort type, time of year.

For example, to visit WDW during Xmas, for a family of four with juniors (ie 10+), staying at a value or moderate and even upgrading to DDP would be a better value than trying to get a room discount (which typically there aren't any past 12/24).

But for a September stay, and planning on a deluxe, you would be better off with a room discount and paying out of pocket for meals.

We did it last year. We were going to St Augustine for dd's family weekend st college, so we flew into Orlando instead, stayed at ASM for one night and booked a 10 day FD BB. Definitely a good deal for 5 Disney adults!

I think this is a wonderful idea. The only potential hiccup is the number of rooms for the 5 adults. If you are booking one suite or one room or one villa that accommodates all 5, then you are good. If you are hoping to book 2 rooms, then you would need a second adult traveling with you now to put the 2nd room under, *unless* the CM is able to put both rooms under the same reservation number, which I understand is more likely when there are children, not just adults. So, make sure this is still a good deal to do if you cannot book 2 value rooms.
