My DH and I were planning on cancelling our trip next month, but we can't sell our Daytona 500 tickets so we are thinking of going. We have shortened the trip and will have only 1 1/2 days at Disney. We are staying at AKV and will do only a resort stay. We have some dining reservations, but we have decided to do take-out instead. Are there any restaurants at Disney that do take-out? We have a car so we can venture off-property some, but we love the Disney restaurants, too. Eating outside is another option, but since we won't know what the weather is like, it's impossible to make reservations until there. We would also like to visit some of the other resorts. I'm assuming we won't be able to drive and park at those resorts unless we have dining reservations. Is that correct? Thanks in advance for any information you can give.

Well, if you're at AKV, I'd highly recommend you look into Sanaa - they've been offering to-go/mobile order from that restaurant for months now, and I expect it's still available. You can verify that on MDE. You also have The Mara right at Jambo House for mobile order/to-go. If you look up mobile order options on MDE, you'll see other resort restaurants/counter services that offer it.

And you're correct - most resorts will not allow you to enter and park without a dining or resort reservation. There are some fairly nice spots that have outdoor-only dining that might be of interest. Three Bridges at Coronado and Geyser Point at Wilderness Lodge come to mind. We've enjoyed both of those for outdoor dining during these times. Hope you're able to find some nice dining options for yourselves!

I’m not aware of Disney restaurants doing take out….outside of hearing AKV guests could mobile order the Saana bread service, so definitely do that if possible. Depending on how adventurous you are, any quick service could be “to go” but they usually don’t have good containers and bags. (So possibly bring some Rubbermaid ones?)

At AKV with a car, I would certainly take the short drive down Sherberth and pickup Giordano’s (Chicago deep dish pizza) and I’m sure there’s a bunch of other options nearby.

With just a quick look, I see Steakhouse 71 To Go, Olivia's To Go, Kona To Go, Ale&Compass To Go - so they have made adjustments at some sit-down restaurants to allow for meals to go. I have no idea if the menus are of interest, but they might be worth a look.

Thank you for the idea of Giordano's! I knew about Sanaa; however, I am allergic to their bread service, so if they allow me to order something else, that would be great!

That's great to know about SH71! The Wave was our favorite restaurant, and we had planned on trying SH71. We will be back in the fall and will definitely eat there then. So I guess I'm trying to figure out how to get there to order take-out. We would prefer to drive our car. Would we be able to park and go in and get our mobile take-out?

That's a really good question. CR is one of the strictest in allowing people to park there. But to me, it seems if you can show a mobile order on your MDE to the security guard - something that's actual and already paid for, I would certainly hope they would allow you in to pick it up. But I have no first-hand knowledge if they would allow it.

AKV is close to many nice restaurants, not that far from celebration area. Since you have a car, perfect time to explore offsite dining options

So true! This is also a budget trip since we will be back in the fall. We will eat at our favorite Disney restaurants then. On a previous trip where we went to the Tampa area first, we ate at Shula Burger and loved it. I'll have to check out if it is still there. Giordano's sounds good. Any other recommendations?

ETA: It doesn't look like Shula Burger is there anymore. There is only one in Tampa. :sad1:

Depends on cuisine & price range. so many lovely options I pour over TripAdvisor & Yelp & attempt to try a new every trip

Picky re italian food, not a giordanos fan but they do get tend to get the love here.

I can tell you RIV is pretty strict and we were returning from dinner via Uber…we were staying there…and I had to give not only my room number, but my MB so he could verify the name on the reservation.

He did say that without a dining reservation at Toppolinos they don’t let people in to park. So, it didn’t sound like a mobile order there would not work…in case it was on your list.
