Just got back from our annual Mardi Gras trip to Disney! This was our first stay at our home resort of SSR. We stayed in the springs area of the resort, and I have to say we were very pleased. The studio was in great shape, the view of the springs was sensational, and the resort itself was amazing. I was very surprised how big the resort was, and also its beauty. I visited the gym every morning, and had fantastic workouts. The buses were never a problem, with our longest wait around 15 mins. The parks were not crowded, and we were able to do everything we wanted; sometimes twice! We tried three new places to eat.. LeCellier's, Ohana's, and Wolfgang Puck Express, all three were very good, with Ohana's being our overall favorite this trip! We brought my mom and stepdad with us, she made a point to tell me when we got back home that it may have been the best vacation they ever had! All in all, it was an unforgettable trip, and we all had a great time!

Now to plan for our summer trip!!!!

That sounds like a great trip. I haven't stayed there yet but will in April. Do you have to get a spa package to use the fitness area or the locker area and steam rooms?

The fitness/gym area was no extra charge... the spa, sauna, etc. you had to have an appt. for. I was a little dissapointed that I could not do the sauna, at Jambo in AK you can use it for free  But the fitness/gym center was really nice..plenty of cardio and workout machines along with adequate free weights. I was able to get a great workout in every morning of our last trip.

I'm glad you enjoyed SSR. We stayed there last April and LOVED it. We just finished a trip to VWL last week. VWL was great but, I found myself missing SSR.

Thats great news. Thank you for the info. My DW and I will be going there in May using our DPs and look forward to getting into a Delux resort. We have only stayed in value resorts.
this makes me even more excited.:woohoo: :cool1:

I'm glad you had such a great time. My DSis stayed in Springs section once and loved it, and the spa/workouts as well. I'm surprised you had to pay for the sauna, I thought she was able to use it, it's by the inside whirlpool, right?

You enjoyed Ohana's better than Le Cellier? Wow, I'll have to try Ohanas!

We also did LeCellier and Ohana's (first time) last week and my DH thought Ohana's was a "must do" on every trip. We liked it that much. My DDs also had fun there. The food is fantastic...the bread amazing!!!

Glad to hear that you have a great time! We love SSR!!

We stayed at Pop the first night (Saturday) I did not get one bit of sleep  we were right by the pool, and even with earplugs in.. I heard screaming, and laughing all night long. I told my wife that is the LAST TIME we will stay at a value!!! We just booked SSR for the first Friday- Saturday with a cash ressie (fantastic AP discount) for our upcoming summer trip!

I didn't go searching for it, I asked a CM inside the fitness center and she told me that it was a charge. Perhaps I was looking in the wrong area?? I'll look into it further this next trip.

I made myself SICK on the bread pudding for desert.. that stuff is evil :worship:

Now that is priceless!!

Yeah.. you can't put a price on memories.. that is just another reason why we love our DVC!!!

Gosh, I'm sorry you didn't like POP. We often stay there the first night, as we drive down and allow extra time for traffic/road conditions. Of course, we've never had a pool side room, we've tended to be in the outlying buildings and facing away from the pool. I did have issues at All Stars Music and Sports, as that resort tends to host large groups that aren't always the best behaved, and All Stars food court isn't set up as nicely as POP's.

We just got back as well from SSR and had a great time in Grandstand............wish the buses came a little more frequent and stopped less places, but we loved the proximity to Downtown Disney and the boat access.

Glad you had a great time. SSR was our first DVC stay and even though it was only a couple of days, it definitely helped sell us on our decision to purchase DVC.

We love Ohana's as well. It was our only ADR when we were there at New Years (50's Prime Time was booked or we would have done it again too).

We are looking into Tony's and Mama Melrose's for our next trip this coming summer. We may also try the new t-rex rest as well..
