Hello all! So glad to find a board of other Canadian fans!

Just found out that I might be able to make a trip late October for a few days to the world and am so excited! I've been checking out deals online and was just wondering about some of the deals being offered.

I see there is the discount offered to Canadians (up to 30% off at the on-site hotels) and there is some kind of a deal about a dining plan but I don't really understand if it's free dining or just a discounted dining plan? We haven't ever bought a dining plan so if it's included as a perk that would be awesome but otherwise, even with a discount, can't see buying the plan. We like to do our own thing more that probably allowed with the dining plan.

Thanks for your help!

Yes there is a 30 % discount for Canadians (just booked that myself) but it is room only discount for deluxe resorts and I believe there are also discounts for the moderates and values but they are less (I think 20% and 10% but not exactly sure as we booked AKL).

With the free dining you need to book a package which includes a certain number of park days (not sure how many this time around but in the past it was a minimum of two) and you will have to pay rack rate for your room. There are blackout dates so it is not available at all times-- it wasn't available for the time we booked in December--though we have done free dining many times in August and it was a good value esp. since my kids are now Disney adults.

You will have to weigh out your options to see what is the better value.:)

Thanks for the help shaycamp21, I've been comparing options... have to decide, nicer hotel or dining plan- it's a tough call ;)

We have gone several times with the free dining and when the kids were younger and didn't each much it wasn't really beneficial. However, now they are both teens we find it really does save us money. If you aren't interested in alot of sit down meals you could stay at a Value resort and get the quick dining plan which would really be budget friendly since those rooms are about $100/night.

You know what, earlier this year we took a last minute plan to Disneyland, before I started my new job, and in last minute, I mean, we randomly decided we would drive sunday night, and left that following thursday night.

I recommend taking a look on the forum throught the Disneyland section and ask the folks there, or take a look at old threads. It was through there that we found the hotel we stayed at, and the one we booked for this trip. I recommend checking on the AMA website as well if you're member(if not a member I would look at it, just to save the bucks). I know our membership payed for itself with the money we saved.

Check every hotel on the street you want to stay on for quotes as well. One hotel, over another as far as prices were concerned varied A LOT during those 2 weeks stay. Well worth searching.
