As you may know (since I've been talking about it everyday for weeks) I am getting on the Magic Saturday. I lost my directions that tell me how to ensure my iPhone is turned off to phone, text and roaming but still allows me to use the iPod features. Can youe remind me how to do this.

Secondly, When we leave Port Canaveral to go to Key West on Saturday, do we ever get so far out in the ocean that I need to shut my iPhone off or can I leave it on as is until we leave Key West. Has anyone left it on and not had international charges, etc. during this portion of the cruise??

Thanks as always

Click on the settings icon on the home screen and the 1st thing on that menu is "Airplane Mode" Slide the icon to the right to "on". On the chance that you click on something that requires wi-fi or 3G, it will warn you first that you aren't set to do so.

Have fun!

To keep your iPod functions, but ditching the phone and internet features, click on settings and then slide the little onscreen slider thingy to "on" for airplane mode.

I'm not sure on the other question. I'm paranoid about the roaming charges so I would turn it off just as a precaution...

Airplane mode works, but to make sure, you would want to tap Settings, General, Network and make sure you turn off Data Roaming. It even has a small explanation under it regarding this issue.

That way, you might be able to connect to the Wi-Fi on the ship and use that for any browsing needs you may have. You will definitely still be able to use your iPod.

When you are so far out at sea that you no longer receive a signal from AT&T, your iPhone will tell you on the very top left. Instead of saying "AT&T", it will say "Cellular at Sea" or "BATELCO" or whatever provider you will have coverage on. If it says anything other than "AT&T," you will be charged international rates. I would turn it to Airplane Mode just to be on the safe side.
