Quick shareholders club question

My broker tried to purchase 25 shares for me today but was told he had to buy a minimum purchase of $5,000.00! I read some of the others from the US buying small amounts, what firm are you using?

Wow! I used Scottrade and purchased 25 shares for what amounted to a little over $300, by the time the commission and fees were added in. I couldn't make the purchase online, and had to call my local Scottrade branch office. But the fellow I talked to was more than accommodating, and the transaction took place pretty painlessly.

Yep, that's what I gave him. I have opened an etrade account but apparently can't purchase anything for 7 days after opening. Hopefully I can make the purchase by next week. I've already lost money since it has gone from $11 to $11.55 today! This is why I am doing this way in advance of our trip! You never know what snags you are going to hit!
