Just a quick run down of how our dining was on our trip last week.
We were a group of 12,
ages 50+ to the youngest at 16. We all like good food but really aren't to picky (except one of the group is a vegetarian who doesn't like many vegetables so she can be quite.....challenging.... to satisify, lol).
We arrived at POR on 6/24 late night, no dining that day. We stayed at POR from 6/24 to 6/27 and then transferred over to OKW where we had the dining plan. We were OOP on the POR portion.
Friday 6/25 - Since we were OOP, we just ate at the POR food court. I have to say I really like the POR food court. Great food options, good portion sizes and really nice people working there. Everyone tends to slam the coffee, but I wasn't disappointed. It wasn't Starbucks but I enjoyed it anyways.
Saturday - Lunch was at PizzaPlanet in DHS, Pizza was great. No complaints
Some of us went to House of Blues for dinner, long wait, so-so food but had a great waiter. Phil was the best!
The rest of the group went to Wolfgang Puck cafe and Rainforest cafe and both were happy with their meals/service.
DTD was mad busy on saturday night, shoulder to shoulder people. We got out of there as soon as dinner was over.
Sunday - Moved from POR to OKW and started on our first day on the dining plan.
This was an AK day, lunch was at Yak and Yeti, I had the mandarin chicken salad, water and a frozen lemonade for lunch. It was good. It was so HOT that day that the frozen lemonade was the best dessert. Two of the people in our group ordered the orange beef, and had to wait like 15 minutes for it. NOT good for a counter service. Y&Y did give them all a free drink for waiting so long. Sunday night we had our only reservation as a group of 12, we went to the Coral Reef in the EPCOT. Got seated pretty quickly, right in front of the windows! Had a couple of great waiters (we were at two tables because our group was so large), food was awesome and we were all impressed. The Chef came out and spoke personally with the person in our group who is the picky vegetarian and made a dish specifically for her.
Monday: This was our 'drinking around the world' day. Spent the better part of the day having a beer in each country in EPCOT. It was fun, tiring, but fun and no one got stupid
. We had lunch (early on in the trip around the world ) at the Kringala in Norway. Great lunch!! Big sandwiches, awesome desserts, definately worth every dining dollar!
The group split up for dinner. Two went to the Cali Grill and had an amazing meal in front of the windows watching Wishes
, Two went to Marrakesh and had a great meal with a belly dancer, two went to Chefs Le France and had a great meal. Now, the six of us went to Kat Kora's Kouzzina....it was TERRIBLE
. We had 7:30 ressie's, they didn't seat us untill 8:30, kept taking people in front of us. The service was SLOW, the restaurant was really loud and obnoxious, the food took forever to come out, the food was not impressive, we waited 45min
for our dessert to come out and then the signature baklava was tough and bland. All in all I would tell everyone to stay away!
Tuesday: I can't remember where we ate lunch.
, ( maybe it was the drinking around the world the day before that made be forget...lol). Dinner was at LeCellier for 10 of our group. Dinner was awesome, waitress was awesome. I am never disappointed with this place!!! The Filet Mignon could have been cut with a fork and the Maple creme brulee was amazing. The other two went to Boma and had a good meal also.
Wednesday: We skipped lunch because we had a 3:00pm ADR at San Angel Inn in Mexico. Although we used our snack credit for the Dole Whips in the MK. So delicious as always! The lunch at San Angel was very good. I really enjoyed the Enchilada's. I think the young men in our group were a little disappointed in the size of the portions, they like to eat a little more, but for me I was more than happy.
Thursday: 7 of us went to the Crystal Palace for Breakfast with Pooh and Friends. The buffet was very good and we were all stuffed when we left there. We all split up into small groups this day again so I really can't tell you where everyone ate lunch. Some ate at Casey's and had a great Hot dog meal that hit the spot, We ate at the Electric Umbrella and had a satisfying bacon double cheeseburger, nothing to write home about, but ok and plenty of it. Two of our group went to Artist Point for dinner and said the food and service was amazing!! They would go again in a heartbeat.
Friday: We used our leftover Quick Service credit to get breakfast at Goods to Go in OKW. Great use of the last credits, Good breakfast sandwiches.
That's about it. Overall we felt we mostly had good meals and mostly good service.
Our worst experience was Kouzzina and House of Blues. We didn't expect much from HoB but were very very disappointed with Kouzzina's. Coral Reef was a pleasant surprise
, and Le Cellier didn't fail our expectations.
