Just to start out, I am a DVC member and usually stay in some of Disney's best resorts. Because I am out of points until Mar 1, 2010, we stayed 1 night at the Royal Plaza Hotel on Feb 26, 2010.

First off, the hotel is very close to downtown Disney, which was a huge plus. Guests staying at this resort cannot take advantage of magic hours or package delivery, but for some, this is not an issue.

The hotel lobby appears very clean and nice. There is a daily charge of $8 AND a parking charge of $8, which seems to be less than others I saw. We got a good rate at bookit.com for $100 for a double suite in the tower. The room was very large. The beds were SUPER comfy! My dd enjoyed the large tub that was in the oversized bathroom.

Downside of the hotel: In the morning we found a nasty looking bug in our bed!! We scooped it up into a cup and took it down to guest services. The two women behind the counter just looked at it and said "ok." I understand that bugs can appear anywhere but when a guest brings the bug down to the desk, a manager should've been contacted and more should've been done. Overall, the beds were comfortable, but the service was not. I will not be staying there again.

Thanks for the update... that hotel was on a short list of spots that we were considering staying for our upcoming trip

Hmmm, a bug in a $50 room can be expected, but in a $100 room, that would be a deal breaker.
