Quick room block question

I was just wondering if someone wouldn't mind clearing this up for me. My family is thinking of booking their flights and hotel through expedia bc it's cheaper. I was just wondering if they were to do that how would that affect my room block. Would I be able to call Disney and tell them they booked already or would they have to book through Disney for it to count. I apologize but idk what it is about the room block that confuses me. Thanks in advance for your help.

As long as you have the reservation # and give it to your room block person, it will count. The majority of our reservations weren't made through our room block.
