DH and I were at the World 9/15-19. Too short! UGH! Anyway here is a quick review of out best and not so good food.
Table Service:
We ate at Ohana's, California Grill, Whispering Canyon, and Crystal Palace
Counter Service:
Sommerfest (Germany), Backlot Express (DS), Harbor House (MK), Earl of Sandwich (DD)
Best Table service:
1. California Grill hands down! OMG! This was our first time eating there and we picked it for our Anniversary dinner! WOW! Service was exceptional from start to finish! They gave us a window seat decorated with Mickey confetti. Our server, Adbou, was fabulous and very patient in helping me decide what to get. We shared the chicken flatbread pizza for our appetizer and goat cheese ravioli as the first course. For the main course, dh had the beef and I had the salmon. Melt in your mouth salmon! Dh liked his dinner as well. I had the chocolate cake with homemade raspberry ice cream. Dh said he had no room for dessert??? This always confuses me.
Went out to the balcony and watched HalloWishes since it was a MNSSHP. It was so worth 2 ts!
2. It is tough to pick between Ohana and CP. However, Ohana had great service and great food! Grant and Cliff were very attentive to our food and drink needs! I liked the noodles, but it doesn't come close to the potatoes they had. YUMMY bread pudding dessert!!!
3. I love CP for the characters. Tigger is the best! However, I don't know that I would do this again. Service was slow and the food was ordinary (except dessert!). I might try breakfast next time...I still get to see Tigger.
4. Whispering Canyon. I hate to put this last. I love this place, the antics and the people here are wonderful. We had breakfast and maybe that was the problem...not that great. I have been here for dinner and like that much better.
Counter Service:
1. Backlot Express at Disney Studios...shocked???...so was I! I had the grilled turkey and cheese with ff and dh had the double cheeseburger with fries. This sandwich was delicious! loved the peppers and the bread they used. It was a big sandwich so dh had to finish it for me. He liked his cheeseburger. Thought it was done nicely. We both had the strawberry parfait for dessert. It was good...but I love chocolate.
2. Sommerfest in Germany: We both had the bratwurst with sauerkraut. I had Chocolate cake and he had the apple strudel. This was a good lunch from start to finish! That cake was moist and the icing not too sweet. No complaints from DH on the apple strudel. They brought it out hot to him as it was in the oven when we ordered.
3. Earl of Sandwich: I had the caprese salad and dh had the tuna sandwich. I kinda got the hint they don't like the dd plan. Food was fresh and good. I had the chocolate cupcake and dh had a cookie. He ate his right after the sandwich and liked both. I couldn't eat the cupcake so it made the ride to the airport with me.
4. Harbour House in MK: The absolute worst meal we had on vacation. The lines were long, yet there were cms standing around not knowing what to do..(too many cooks in the kitchen). Dh ordered the chicken nuggets with fries and I had the blt salad. The nuggets were ordinary nothing spectacular, lets go to Micky Dee's and get nuggets. He also ordered the apple crisp and thought it was awful. My salad however was good. I love a good salad. The chocolate cake was very dry and when I don't finish something chocolate you know something is up.
Snacks:
We had snacks everywhere! Dh said his favorite was the cupcake at the Wilderness Lodge. He loved it so much he had it twice! I liked the softserve at the lodge. We didn't do a Dole whip or a pretzel in Germany. I am sure they would have beat out the ice cream!
All in all I can't wait to go back and do it all over again!!
