I wasn't going to write anything about my WDW dining, since I'm kinda mute on these boards anyway. But since I'm itching to go back and have been scouring menus this morning, I thought heck...I'll give it a shot!
Allow me to set it up a bit for you. There were a lot of us there, so I won't even attempt to get into what everyone ate. I'll review just me. When I say a lot, I mean 20. Children and adults, sometimes we'd eat all together as a group (can you say CrAzY??) and other times a few of us would branch off and do our own thing. We were not on the DDP and I don't remember prices on these, so I'll grab the price off allears menus.
I have no pictures and I have a poor memory. But I'll do the best I can! It'll help me relive it, even if no one is reading!
Arrival Day, aka Day 1:
We got to AKL (where we stayed) at around 2 PM. After a long flight, the last thing I want to do is eat. I'm too busy waiting for my ears to normalize! That night we just hung around the hotel and went to DTD, but before heading out we tried dinner at Mara. I had chicken strips and french fries. You got three strips and a ton of fries, $6.69. It was okay..not the best value. One of the kids had the child's chicken strip meal, consisting of 2 strips, some fries and an apple sauce for $3.99, which was a much better value and would have been fine for me, but I'm always kind of uneasy about ordering from the child's menu since I'm not sure if there are rules about that, and after all...I'm a rule follower!!!
I do have to add that I bought the $11.99 refillable mug...this could have possibly been the best thing ever!!! I had gross Disney coffee in the AM, Diet Coke throughout the day, hot chocolate some nights...and could even pour my beer into it to help keep cold! It was awesome!
Epcot, MGM Day 2:
Breakfast was at Mara. Bagel and cream cheese...a couple bucks, and very good. I'm not big on breakfast...a bagel is perfect for me. You'll see this become a trend. On this day, however, I had yet to discover the deliciousness of Mara bacon.
Lunch was at Coral Reef, table for two. I have to add, we had 2 ADRs for this trip. This was not one of them. Walked in at 11:30 and we were seated within 15 minutes. Both me and mom had the Lobster Salad with the Lobster soup thing. Ok so, while it was all VERY yummy...the soup, literally, was like a shot of soup. I felt like I was back in college at a frat party. I did savor it though, as it was delicious! The salad was fantastic and the bread they serve you at the table....was the best part! I'm a fan of bread and I can be critical of breads...and this was flippin' fantastic! And the Chocolate Martini I had for dessert was pretty scrumptious as well. So yummy that we left the park immediately and I went back to AKL to have a couple beers by the pool. I needed a dessert for my dessert!
I don't think I ate dinner this night. Dinner actually may have been a rice krispie treat at around 11 PM. I'll come back to this if I remember.
Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom Day 3:
Character breakfast at Crystal Palace, table for 73 please! We did have an ADR and no, there was not 73 of us at one table. It seemed like that though. I was so not impressed with the food, but remember what I said from day 2...I'm not a breakfast person. I'm allergic to eggs, which right there knocks a bunch of stuff right off my list options. Pancakes and waffles sit too heavy for me, so there's that. And pastries, typically, I don't do. I don't like flaky pastries. They're messy and often too dry for me. I'm left with fruit and breads...and bacon, my fave! I will say though, for the kids...there is no better breakfast! If it were just adults, I wouldn't want to do it...but the kids enjoyed it so much, with their autographs and hugs and pictures with the characters, it's worth it just for that.
Lunch was at an ice cream cart in Tomorrowland, where I got a Crunch ice cream bar. Sometimes I'd forget to eat. Normally, I never do this. In Disney, it was VERY easy to do!
Dinner was at Rainforest Cafe. I don't even know if they take ADRs here...we didn't have one. It was EMH at AK and the park was just closing for the general public and it was busy!!! But, being in the Safari Club, we got seated at a table for 5 in 10 minutes. I had the China Island Chicken Salad, which was scrumptious!!! I ate a lot here because everything was so good and I was hungry since I'd eaten very little all day. We shared the Big Blue Crab Delight (I don't remember that that was the name, but I referred to the menu so it must have been) as an appetizer and it was really good. I also tried a slice of their pizza and let me tell you...I wish that I had ordered it! It was the best pizza I've had in WDW and will DEFINITELY remember that for next trip! No dessert here because we were all just too stuffed... I had some beers with dinner and then ran off to ride Dinosaur and then Everest, twice, in the rain. Let me tell you, the pictures were CLASSIC!
I'll finish this later today or tomorrow! Hope you enjoy and if this is falling on dead eyes...well, thanks Disboards for giving me a place to relive my vacation!!!!
