Just got back from another successful "eating our way around the World" trip. Here's a quick look:
Boma's: Love this restaurant (and I usually hate buffets)! Passed on the soups this time (although tasted my dining partner's seafood soup...yummm)and filled up on the salads! It's easier just to say I love every salad but the watermelon rind! FuFu was great and they had the salmon with a coconut curry sauce that was delicious. Roasted squash was fabulous, too. Good thing I managed to save room for a few zebra domes, eh? Anyone else like the banana bread pudding and coconut tiramisu as much as we do?
Vic and Al's: My dining partner has never wanted to try this restaurant so I resorted to begging. Won't ever have to beg again! Yes, it's expensive, no, we will wait for special occasions, but, holy macaroni, is it ever worth the price! From Timbales of Jumbo lump crab to Kurobuta Pork Tenderloin to Porcini-crusted Poulet to Carmelized Banana Gateau (cheezz, I'm salivating all over again)...it was wonderful! The Chef's have to be genius' to put together such wonderful inventive and tasty flavors. And never once was there a "stuffy" feel to the evening.
Sci-Fi: Perhaps one shouldn't schedule this restaurant as a follow up to V & A's, or perhaps the majority of you are absolutely right. We should have stuck to burgers and malts. Everyone should do it once for the atmosphere...
Le Cellier: Great food, good salads and we both had the filets. One with the mushrooms and the other with the maple glaze. Cream cheese mashed potatoes were delish! My filet could have been a bit more done for my taste but our poor waitress was monopolized with a rude table of ten so I didn't want to complain. Our disappointment comes from the closeness of the tables and smallness of the dining room (we had a lovely view of the men's bathroom). It was a bit loud, too. It's too bad because we've had some of the best food in EPCOT here.
Fultons: Had lunch here our last day (yes, I was pouting) and had the breaded portobella mushroom appetizer (yum) and King Crab w/red skin potatoes for the entree. Was very good, but it seems to me you get more for your money at dinner here. What's with the stuffy waiters?
Whispering Canyon: We don't have kids, but enjoy the antics of the staff. Had dinner here for the first time. Pork Chops for my dinner mate and chicken for me. Shared both and they were equally good! Big portions, too.
Miracle of miracles...our dining card appeared in the mail the DAY BEFORE we were to leave! We more than made up for the cost of the card on this first trip.
Now please help me for our next trip...Does anyone know how early reservations can be made for breakfast at Rainforest Cafe at AK?
