Hi everyone! We left Anaheim and headed for San Diego yesterday. I will give you a few highlights of our visit. Feel free to ask questions.
July 11th-Regular entry at DL. Waited at the rope by Plaza Inn and chatted with a lady who was a former CM. Headed to SM for a FP. Rode Nemo Subs with a 10 minute wait then the Matterhorn with virtually no wait. Tried to get Star Tours FP but the ride was down so they weren't giving any out. Rode Mr. Toad and Buzz. Headed to get Splash FP and rode BTMRR with 10 minute wait. I started out using a Ridemax strategy and figured out quickly that we didn't need it.
It started getting crowded eventually. We were first in line for Hungry Bear, since our stomaches are on eastern time and we were hungry for lunch way before then! There were quite a few day camp groups there but they were really no problem. We were also able to ride HM and Pirates before lunch. I don't remember the order of everything after the first few rides, but we rode Indy and Splash somewhere in there. We also got FP for Indy to use later as well as Star Tours. In dy was fun and Splash was way better than the WDW version.
We left when it was getting hot and crowded and stopped by DCA. We rode the monorail to DTD and walked around there first. We rode ToT. The wait said 15 minutes but it was much longer. Then we rode Monsters Inc and headed to the hotel.
We stayed at Hojo and it was nice. Building 2, top floor. My son said the pool was freezing. We went out in search of dinner and decided on Joe's Crab Shack. Really wanted Bubba Gump but I got confused about where it is and we couldn't find it. We spent a few minutes in Target, and then my husband went to the room and my son and I went back to DL tp use our fast passes.
We went on Space and Star Tours. Space was awesome! The sound and the ride were wonderful. Then we went on Small World. I sent my son alone on Indy since I was starting to feel queasy by then. While he was in there the fireworks ended and hoards of people came thru Adventureland. I got a little panicked but it cleared out before he exited the ride. We still had 2 more fastpasses so I gave them away to a very happy couple and we headed back to the room.
My summary of the first day: Getting to the park early was pure magic! We did so uch then took our time enjoying the atmosphere. It sure did get crowded later but no worse than what I would have expected on a summer day.
We are heading to La Jolla now for a bike tour. My son is 13 today! I'll add more later. Have a great day everyone!
