We got back home late last night from a quick 4 night trip.
The good: CMs were all great, every single one we encountered. Food was good, we ate at CP, Tusker House, 1900 PF and Garden Grill. Wait times were manageable, and we were able to get 4th and 5th FPs for decent rides (even RnRC at 4:30 pm for 5:20 when hopping to DHS). We went the week previous last year, and I would say this second week in December was a bit busier. We did all 4 parks in 3 days, but didn't use the new express transportation. Room was clean, pool was very warm, my kids swam two evenings until 10 pm.
The bad: Bus service was either amazing or atrocious. It seemed we either walked right onto a bus or waited 40 minutes. Love the new signs telling you when the buses are due.
The ugly: DME when we arrived. We waited over an hour to get on a bus. It was very busy at the airport, every line seemed full. They need a snack bar down there!
We had a great time. I will say that I will never NOT pay for preferred room at AS again. We were way back in building 8 and it was a long walk to the bus and main building. Back to the room at the end of a long day was torture. Even my cheapskate husband said next time pay the extra to be closer!
We also upgraded to APs, no problems and the total was actually about $100 less than I had worked it out to be. Wait time at GS at Disney Springs on our first evening was over an hour, so we did it outside the MK when we hopped there on Monday evening.

I don't understand what you're saying about the preferred room though. You say you will NOT pay for preferred room at AS again. Was this at Sports? Then you say your husband says next time to pay extra to be closer. So you DIDN'T get a preferred room this time but will next time, correct? Maybe I'm reading this wrong? I ask because I paid the extra for preferred at AsSp but if they're going to stick me in a back building, I'll change my reservation! Thanks!
