Quick question re modifying 12n reservation

My seven month window opens soon. My reservation is for 12 n. I would like to change the entire stay to a new resort. Can I do that the first day the 7m window opens or do I need to wait in order to capture all 12 n for the change?

You can only book 7 nights exactly at the 7 month window. So, if it is currently all one trip, you have to wait until you are 5 days in to the window in order to book all 12.

There is also no way online (or even calling MS) to split the reservation by modifying only the first 7 nights and keeping the rest.

Thank you. This is what I thought. So could I take my original reservation, break it in two and move the first week first and then add a day at a time. Once that was done, I could cancel the last five nights at my home resort.

Thanks. Just did it. I’m now booked seven nights at AK followed by five nights at AK. Once I get to seven months, I’ll book OKW and then add a night at a time to make the 12 n. Once done, I’ll cancel the five night AK stay. Am I right?

as long as you have enough points to do that, yes.
