If you own points at multiple DVC resorts, which is your 'home resort', ie which can you have the 'home resort' advantages?

My understanding from MS is that what ever resort your have purchased into entitles you to the 11 month window for booking. But the kicker is that what ever resort you choose you'll need to have the points need for you stay within that contract. So so you have 100pts at BCV, 50pts at SSR and 50 at AKV. you could book a stay at SSR 11 months out but only up to 100 pts (borrowing from the next uy) and not the lump sum of your 200 points.

I think the 3goof's have the right idea, but the wrong language.
Simply put- You have the 11 month booking window with the points you own at that resort.
All other points can be used at any resort at the 7 month window. :smokin:

I own at 2 resorts and that is totally true. To book at 11 month window you have to have a total of that many points and/or points to borrow at resort you are booking. If you are lucky sometimes you can book part of vacation at 11 month window and balance at 7 month window.. But again if you are LUCKY....

This is how I handle that, use different home resorts every year. I will bank ahead the points for bwv, and use beach club points this year plus the beach club points that I banked last year. then next year I only use boardwalk point etc. does that help? :confused3 You just have to plan ahead a little bit more.

:rolleyes1

Another way of explaining this is, if you own 200 points at BW and 200 points at SSR, you would have BW as your home resort for 200 points, and SSR as your home resort for 200 points. If you wanted to use all of your points at a single resort, you would have to wait until the 7 month booking window.

But don't forget about banking and borrowing. If you have 200 points at a single resort, you could have up to 600 points to make a reservation at 11 months out if you banked all 200 and borrowed all 200.

This is also how MS explained the use of points to us. You just have to be careful when booking vacations/using points so that you can maximize your "home resort advantage" to the fullest. We have an add-on at AKV and we banked 2007 points into 2008. So, for a vacation in our 2008 UY, we will have access to the points from '07+'08+'09(borrow) that we can use to book at AKV 11 months out.
