Quick question about GAC?

I have a friend who is visiting WDW right now. She is recovering from a severed achilles tendon. Out of a cast now but still tentative about all the walking in the parks. She looked into getting a GAC but found out they cost money. Is this right?? Even with a dr's note??

The GAC does not cost money, nor does it require a dr's note.

the GAC will NOT get her out of waiting in line, and it will NOT reduce the walking and standing in the parks.

If she is having difficulty walking or standing, she needs to look at renting a wheelchair or ECV. It is a 1/4 mile into Soarin (just from queue entrance to ride), and there is no way to shorten that and no place to sit...

Thanks!! I think she was misinformed. She is considering an ECV and doesnt need to push it with her injury. I thought the GAC would help in addition to the ECV.

Just writing to confirm/agree with what Kpeveler wrote and also to point you toward some resources.

Post #2 of that thread has resources for renting wheelchairs and ECVs. Post #6 of that thread is all about Guest Assistance Cards.

If your friend is concerned about walking, a GAC will not really help her because it doesn't shorten the distance walked. And, as was mentioned, walks can sometimes be quite long.
If she has an ECV or wheelchair, ahe would not need a GAC because the CMs will know she needs an accessible line/entry when they see the wheelchair or ECV. GACs are for invisible disabilities/conditions.
