Hello, I'm wondering if anyone can help me quickly? I'm trying to book a holiday which does not include flights. To me it looks like your can't rebook without paying hefty fines, is this correct? I had booked through the US site 2 years ago and was able to rebook my trip when my Mom became ill by moving it a whole year forward but I didn't lose any money. Maybe 50 dollars or so I can't remember. Isn't it the same with Disney International or no?

Thanks so much for any advice! :goodvibes

It depends when you do it. With WDTC UK if you are more than 8 weeks out from departure, then you can adjust the dates. You will pay a £50 amendment charge if the cost of the holiday drops, but nothing if it increases. If unsure of dates I always book a day or two less than I really want so that when i call to change the dates, I can add the extra nights and have the amendment fee waived. I always take out a good travel insurance as soon as I have bought my flights and this will cover any losses if I have to cancel or make changes closer to the time when the penalty is heavier

Okay thanks! :) I'll have to check if the extra travel insurance I have in my home policy would cover the package should I need to cancel or amend it. I've never really thought of it seriously before, always thought I could just rebook it further out! :crazy2: Luckily nothing has happened before I guess although this time I'll be traveling with 2 dear friends as well so we need to be sure.

For me it's the flights that prompt taking out the insurance. I can happily sit with the accommodation package booked knowing I can shift it or at worst, stand to lose £100 deposit. But the flights are another story so I buy my travel insurance as soon as the e-ticket confirmation comes through on those :)

In the terms and Conditions it states that if the trip is amended less than 56 days beforehand the trip is treated as cancelled which I take it means a large percentage of the trip amount is also charged. Am I correct or have I misunderstood? It's what's what's holding me back from booking :(.

Although that is for holidays which do not include flights, perhaps that makes a difference?

Otherwise I'm happy to move the date forward should something come up as I'll always as long as I'm able be happy to go to WDW.

I dont know the current policy on flight inclusive so I don't want to give you wrong info. Last time I did it through WDTC was in 2009 for a 2010 trip and it was £100 deposit per person and you lost the deposit if you moved it. In fact I nearly canceled that year and rebooked given that it would only cost me £200 for the two of us because I was outwith the 56 days - but I left it in the end.

I have shifted dates pretty much every year with non flight inclusive and paid nothing to do so by keeping the cost from going down. With non flight inclusive you only pay £50 deposit per person. If you cancel outwith the 56 days of departure, you lose your deposit only. Thereafter it becomes a percentage based on how far out you cancel or make the changes - both for flight inclusive and room package or room only. I can only speak for WDTC in the UK as I have booked all our trips directly through them since the one I referred to so it's been years since I used another Trave Agent.

Well that's fine then because I can always shift the dates and bring the cost up a bit, we are going 2 days less than I'd like as it is! I am coming off working a 5 night shift and feeling a bit foggy, and was confused by the wording where it says if you amend your booking less than 56 days out they will treat it as cancelled and apply their cancellation fees.

I thought you would have to pay that even while rebooking :). Yet further down they also say as long as the trip costs more the amendment fee will be waived. So if that is correct then, yay that would be great :)!

Thank you for your help :thumbsup2!

You're so welcome and I have done this every year and had no issues. In fact, I have made 4 changes to my current reservation in less than a month :rotfl2: No fees as I am still well outside of my 56 days. They are only too happy to have you call them up every week and add a night, add another night, add another 2, add another 7 days to your park tickets ......... :wave2:
