Quick Poll: What is your go to Vacation Camera?

Thank you - much appreciated. I do shoot in JPG, about 95% of the time. All my personal shooting, whether for posting, printing, or selling, is shot JPG and I'm not a big post-processor - I try to get it to come out of the camera the way I want it. I do occasionally shoot RAW, mostly when I'm doing a hired shoot and need the contingency RAW offers - by shooting RAW+JPG, I can use the JPGs, but have the RAW file there for maximum latitude if I do flub a shot, since often these are live events and there's no chance to go back and shoot it again.

My last trip to Disney, I took a Canon 7D (EF-S 15mm-85mm) and a Canon S100. I had 1 or 2 picture days where I carried the 7D into the park, otherwise I kept the S100 in my pocket. I could not be happier with my pictures. That being said, I now also have a Canon G1-x in my line-up. I must say, the G1-x is incredible. Image quality rivals the 7D and the set up is very intuitive, especially for current Canon users. The macro is not the best, but I do not do a lot of macro photography. I would recommend giving the G1-x another look

For me, photography is one of the biggest elements of most of my vacations. I bring a huge selection of gear (over 40 pounds of it on my last trip). I don't take all of it on each outing. I usually just grab a body and a couple of lenses.

I haven't joined the NEX revolution, although I've been keeping an eye on them. Maybe next year. Even then, I think it is something I'll take when photography is a secondary concern.

I wonder of someone could created a Sony NEX photo sharing thread for this board? I'd do it, but I don't have a Nex...yet. *Hint Hint HPS3* I think it would help a lot of other folks who are interested in this system.

I would absolutely LOVE it if somebody would do this! I just got a NEX-5N a few days ago and going to Disney in November...I'd love to learn as much as I can from all you good people.

There already is one. Most of the recent posts on the Sony sharing thread have been from NEX users.

Hi Kat. I actually did see that one. In fact I have it bookmarked!
But it also included other Alphas as well. Not a bad thing, just thought specifically for the NEX would be even better, for the NEX folks that is. I'm happy just to have this forum even!
