I just read the menu for the California Grill in the Contemporary Resort. Sounds fabulous! QUICK POLL: YES OR NO TO THE CALIFORNIA GRILL?

I thought I had read through all of the menus for our trip in August. Somehow, I missed this one and now I want to add it to our ADRs! Even the kid's dessert menu sounds cool! Unlike most kids his age, my DS9 loves Sushi. And like all kids his age, he also loves Rice Krispie treats. How cool would it be for him to order the Rice Krispie Sushi Plate on the kid's dessert menu?!:cool1:

the last 2 times we dined there we were not pleased w/our meals. but i do realize things change.

Love It!

A 'must do' for my family!

I understand no one can be a "fortune teller" when it comes to making ADRs. However, do you think it will be possible to get a dinner ADR for the California Grill now for our trip in late August? (I would call now yet it is after 10 pm.)

May I ask why?

There's always a chance since people do cancel. I would try.

Hands down our favorite WDW eaterie, and we have been to most of them including V&A (sorry, don't flame me). We visit here on each trip.

Our kids LOVE the Calif. Grill :thumbsup2 The kids menu is very nice: princess: loves the steak and mac & cheese, pirate: loves the pizza. They love the dessert "sushi" plate and the chocolate pudding is to die for :worship: (I always taste it to make sure!!!) If you son loves sushi then this is the place for him. And of course when you see the view you'll know why the place is so popular. ENJOY!! pixiedust:

I voted yes. It's one of those special places you just have to try out for yourself.

We love the California Grill!! My daughters loved the rice krispy treat "sushi" dessert - it was so adorable. You really have to see it in person to appreciate how clever it is.

We weren't planning on going for our upcoming trip in August, but we got cheaper SW fares out of Hartford, causing us to add a night to our package (aww, shucks!). So, we decided to use the extra TS credit we now have and put it towards going back to CG!! I booked Weds 8/23 for 5:30pm (we're early eaters) a couple of days ago without a problem. If I remember correctly, the ADR CM gave me my choice of times and there were quite a few. So there may be plenty of ADR's available during that week in August. Good luck and I hope you enjoy!! :goodvibes

Boy, I really stuggled with this convoluted, wordy, confusing poll. :thumbsup2

But, an unqualified yes from us. It's not so much that it's the very best meal on the planet - I haven't found that one yet - but the whole experience with the view, the service, etc., is what makes it unique.

I don't think you'd have any trouble at all with ADRs.

As the OP, I am just curious as to why some people voted "no" to the California Grill?

I voted no because CG was and still is the absolute worst meal I have ever had in a restaurant... anywhere. It was very crowded and loud. Our waited was just down right icky ( he was dead on the teacher from South Park with the puppet on his hand). My steak was brought to me bleeding and when I asked for a new one they just cooked my cut open one more. All of the juices ran out and it was dry dry dry. I got the sushi appetizer and there was a hair in one piece. My ex FIL ordered a pork loin dish and about half way thru the meal I looked up and said.. that looks like a rack of lamb.. is it lamb? It was lamb. Now, I have to admit ex FIL was an idiot for not catching this but still.. rack of lamb vs. pork loin.. how did that get mixed up? Then.. when we pointed this out they appologized and offered to bring out the pork but he was enjoying the lamb so he said no thank you.. Did the manager take it off the bill? Nope.. he changed the order from pork to lamb which might I add was about $10 more so we ended up paying more for their mistake. Our drinks( the non alcoholic ones) were not refilled. the $8 cocktails were flowing freely. My DD who was 4 at the time started crying because she was so thirsty. Then the darn fireworks started.. nice yes.. but just try to get service with this going on. The dessert was yummy though. In a nut shell the service was terrible.. the atmosphere was awful, and the food was mediocre at best. There were 6 of us and our bill was was over $500. I enjoyed my meal at McDonalds that afternoon more. Never never never again. That being said I understand everyone has different experiences and many people love it there. Great for you.. I will stay far far away so there is more hair for you to eat.
