My 2 mo had her 1st shots today. She is really really fussy, which is not normal for her. Anyone have any ideas for soothing her. I have given her tylenol as perscribed by the doc, and we have been rocking for about an hour none of our normal stuff is working. Any help would be great!

Tough one... My daughter, now 10 months, was moody when she got her shots, but more of a quiet moody... Tylenol seemed to work fine for her. But keep rocking her, soothing her, maybe listening to music. Maybe, if it's ok with your doctor, give her a relaxing bath. Or maybe she wants to be left alone. I'm sure by the time you read my post, you'll have tried everything. But good luck, and don't worry... she'll get over it, just hang in there! Congratulations on the new baby, by the way.

Oh, I remember those days well. One of my DS's heavier appts, I think he got 3 injections. He was inconsolable. We went for a nice LONNGGGGGGGG ride in the car. He finally fell asleep, and I just pulled over, and read a magazine I had stashed in the car. When he woke up, he was a little subdued, but just fine

Good Luck!!!!

Connor (18 months now) always gets crabby after his shots too, but then gets very sleepy soon after which makes things much easier.

If it is a nice day try a stroller ride outside, or the car ride is a good idea too. Those days seem soooo long. Poor baby and poor Mama too. Tomorrow will be better.:)

yep. Prepare yourself for a long night. :(

Mostly just sit and rock and comfort. Swaddle her in a blanket if she still likes that and give her a pacifier if she likes that...

I was up all night 2 weeks ago after the 4 month shots.

Car ride maybe?? Does she like to get a bath?? Unfortunately, there's not much you can do except what you are doing. Hang in there. It will pass. Hopefully, she will sleep well tonight and feel much better tomorrow. {{HUGS}}

My DD loved those sound machines when she was that age. Also, we used to just walk around with her in the bathroom with the water running. The sound seemed to sooth her. Good luck!

I hate to say this but I guess I was lucky. DD never had any problems after shots - she'd get a little tired and small fevers once in a while but that was it. A little Tylenol and she was fine. Next time perhaps give some Tylenol a few hours BEFORE going...might help take the edge off of her after and she might be a bit more relaxed during too.

It's been quite a few years since we've been through it but I think I'd be sure to tell them next time. I think I remember them saying if the baby had prolonged crying they would use a different vaccine the next time.

Daniel's 2 month shots were the worst...he's been fine with the one's since, maybe a little fever, but a little tylenol or motrin works great and he's usually himself the next day. But the 2 month ones! Ugh! He howled the whole night.

Make sure you are giving the proper doseage of tylenol, and that you repeat it when its time too. Daniel hated baths at that age, but its not a bad idea if your baby likes them. The car ride is a good idea, too, if its relaxing.

This too shall pass. Daniel was fine the next day...hopefully your baby will be too. Its so hard to see them sad, isn't it?

If you are nursing, it wouldn't hurt to let your baby nurse on demand, if you aren't already. Sometimes the comfort of it helps.

Good luck...I know how hard this can be.
