Hey everyone, just looking for a quick bit of input on three different versions of a photo with three different focus points and just wondering which one everyone prefers since I'm a bit up on the air myself haha Thanks for the advice!

IMO, they each tell a very different story. It all depends on what you are trying to convey to the viewer.

#3 is interesting as it leaves the viewer to decide if it is a viewfinder or a cannon aimed at the ship.

I like number three the best, I think, but the first one does tell a story -- it says to me that if I insert the requested money, I'll get the view in number three.

I like #2 the best. The background to #1 just really lacks any amount of detail. And #3, to me, the viewfinder is too blurred to take up so much of the shot.

I agree. Number 2 is the shot that I like as well. All though I do like the comment that #3 could be a cannon. That does add a bit of mystery to that shot.

Of the three, #3. The first two hurt my eyes! #1 my eyes want to follow the telescope off into the distant, and then bam, they're hit with blur. #2 is a tad easier on the eyes, but starts and ends blurry. #3 Almost loses my interest if I start at the eyepiece of the telescope. In my opinion, if more of the barrell of the telescope were in focus to lead me into the focused distance, it would be a good shot. Bottom line, take #2 & #3 and overlay them so those parts are in focus! Just my thoughts though.

the series is fun as awhole, but if I had to pick one to stand alone it would be three

Thanks a lot for all the thoughts everyone! I definitely was very in the air specifically between 2 and 3 mostly (but put 1 up for fun haha). I didn't really think about the idea of a cannon for 3 and that does make it a bit more interesting so thanks for those view points.

alloyd1170- I see your point for a standard photo but I was aiming to have a specific plane for the focus and have everything else out of focus for this series.

#3 is the only one that comes close to working for me. #1 would if it were framed differently to make the story about inserting the coins but as a photograph it misses when you try and make it about the telescope. #2 is just confusing for the viewer.

Crop the bottom half of #3 to make it a landscape shot and go with that one.

I already have a landscape shot on that level with just the resort and put Spaceship Earth in as well. This was just a DOF experiment and wasn't sure which one (if any) people enjoyed.
