Quick megabus questions

Have a couple quick questions for anyone who's ever ridden on Megabus.

We're leaving tomorrow morning on it, and am in the process of packing.

I know you're allowed 1 suitcase per person, but do you have those suitcases with you on the bus, or do they stow them underneath? Trying to figure out whether I'll have access to what I put in the suitcase or not, and what I should keep on me in a purse (books/magazines/etc).

Also, are you allowed food on the bus? Our trip is going to span from 8:15-1:45, and hoping to bring a packed lunch for the 4 of us to eat on the bus.

It's been about a year since I've taken MegaBus, so things may have changed.

*Suitcases go under the bus. Smaller backpacks/bags/purses may be carried on and stowed under the seat in front of you or in the overhead racks.

*Food is allowed. Several people brought on fast food, sandwiches, snacks, bottled water/beverages, etc. It was no problem. There is also a bathroom/meal break on longer journeys. We stopped at a rest area with bathrooms, several restaurants, and a convenience store. There were also picnic tables outside where you could eat if you prefer not to eat on the bus.

I was just on a Megabus 2 weeks ago. There are no overhead bins in the two-storey buses. So if you know you'll be on one of those, you'll only have some space at your feet and under the seat in front of you.
