So I apparently didn't check all of the pockets of DD's shorts and just found her Ipod nano in the bottom of the washer. :sad2: Is there ANY hope for it? I did google and most of the suggestions were the "basics" of drying out electronics... don't turn it on, dry it with a low heat hairdryer, and submerge in a baggie of rice for a minimum of 48 hours before attempting to turn it on. The battery was completely dead, so I'm not worried that it was on or will try to come on during the drying process.

Any OTHER suggestion? I'm sad because she shared this Ipod with me! Thanks in advance!....................P

I did the rice thingie for several days, and it worked for my ipod nano that went through the wash. I learned to check the pockets better!

I had an ipod touch go thru the washer. After it dried out it worked but the battery would not hold a charge so i had to keep it on a dock. I was able to find a back up battery that plugged into the bottom and was able to use it with that no problem

DO NOT TURN IT ON...or plug it into the charger. Put it in a bag of dry rice and leave it for a few days. If you try to turn it on or plug it in you can fry it.

Dang, wish I had heard of that. My 6 year old put his ipod touch in his pocket when we went to Busch Gardens. I had no idea and he soaked it at Sheikra. It was toast. :(

Wish I had tried the rice thing first. Interesteing. Good luck OP!

Rice worked for me on my MacBook! But I should've taken the battery out first.

DD dropped her Ipod touch in the toilet last fall (thankfully, it was before she had used it:goodvibes) She committed the cardinal sin of turning it on immediately and it did work. She shut it off and then it would not come on again. We tried the rice trick. We took it to an Apple store and they said it was shot. It was tossed in the glove box of my vehicle and forgotten about.

One day about 6 months later my ds pulls it out and turns it on. It came on and the it turned right off since the battery was dead. We tried charging it and it works just fine now.:confused3 DS is thrilled because he now has an Ipod touch.

Good luck!

The rice trick worked for my son's phone which went thru the full washing cycle. Actually after a few days it still didn't work after being in the rice but I tried it one last time maybe a week later and it worked.

UPDATE! IT WORKS!

After I posted here, we googled some more ideas. DD decided to try vacuuming the water out to start with. She cupped her hand over the end of the vac attachment hose (so as not to scratch) and sucked the water out through the screen. She said she could feel water coming out.

Then we put it in a ziptop baggie of brown rice, sealed the top, and haven't touched it since (22 days)... until now! And it works just perfect!

Thanks for all of your helpful ideas and suggestions!.................P
