Quick help- walking a reservation

My 7 month window opens next week but the first night I need is available now!

Is there anyway to secure that night if only a scattered few nights in the 6 preceeding are available?

I know you can walk it if all the nights are open by booking then dropping the first and adding the last but what happens when only part of the days I planned to walk are available?

Gosh I hope this makes sense.

You cannot walk in that situation or otherwise reserve the night. You are simply facing one of the reasons walking usually does not work at 7 months out.

Thank you. Ugh! Looks like I'm going to have to piece meal this trip together.

I have had success with a shorts trip at 7 months but it was only a few nights and there was full availability. I guess I didn't need to walk it at all. Needing LOADS of pixiedust!

Just agreeing with drushba. Walking very, very seldom works at 7 months. (If it does, the reservation would most likely have been available when the 7 month window opened).

At 7 months, even if one is lucky enough to get the first reservation, it's still unlikely to succeed. If any of the days (that you can't even see yet) are booked or get booked before you can add them to the first reservation, all of the effort is for nothing.

I suppose one could keep the nights actually needed from the reservation you were able to make, wait until the 7 month window opens for the blocked night and then waitlist for the remaining nights. At least the waitlist would be shorter.

rentayenta - hope you end up with something that will work. Unfortunately, walking at 7 months for December is truly a long shot. IMO, you'd have better luck waitlisting and frequently checking the website for cancellations. Good luck!

Thank you Carol. It looks like we may spend 3 nights in a cheapie Hilton, I can get a great rate and maybe 3 nights on site. Of course to make matters worse, I am borrowing into 2015 for this trip. Remind me to rethink a Dec UY when adding on.
