Hope this is the right forum. but i need to save my movie and i can't. I have my videos and pics on my external hardrive and whenever i disconnect it, and reconnect it, it makes my movie an error saying they can't find the pics etc.

So, i have left it on this time until i completed my movie,(which i have now) but now it won't let me save it to harddrive, external harddrive, or to disk?

I had done this so many times, with different programs, but finally got everything to work out great with windows movie maker. Now the problem is saving won't work. :headache: :headache: :headache:
Says not enough space or movie is too long? It is about 250mb, with pics, music, and video. I have more then 100gb left of space so that is not an issue. I just don't know what else to do. Anyone help me, i would be so thrilled :worship:

I really need to remove my external harddrive and don't want the hassel anymore of redoing it. All my photos and videos are on the external.

What exactly is the error it gives you? I will say that Windows Movie Maker is not a great program for the most part. It is very buggy and crashes often. Some things to check are:
1. Look at the directory where you are trying to save it. Try another directory.
2. Try changing the file type that you are saving it as.
3. Move all your pics that you are using onto the actual hard drive of the computer, and (I hate to say it) redo it and try again.
Nero Ultimate is a better option for what you are doing, and can be had for about $80 or so.

so NOT what i need to hear(start over ;) ) I had previously purchased a program Pinnacle, and i found it worked great but the music was always choppy between pictures, and i tried another. I thought i would go back to the basic one. Purchasing a new one is not an option any more,. PLus after i complete this i doubt i will do it again :goodvibes

I really want to do this one soon because we are going back next week and the last slide is the surprisem, we are going to Disney again soon!!

This is the error. I tried saving to computer several different ways.
"Movie cannot be made, please check original file to see if still available, or save to a different method, or there is not enough disk space"

I tried every different method to save, but each one takes hours before the error message comes up, so i try leaving it over night hoping it will work but it never has.... Any other suggestions, what about other free programs.

I have to agree with CrazyDadGuy (hi mark) and say that windows movie maker is not a great tool. I have had issues with it as well. One of the things that may cause your errors that I thought of is :
1. Do you have the screensaver turned off? This might cause an interruption or throw your computer for a loop, esp. if it takes that long to do a slideshow.
2. Do you have standby turned off? see above.
3. How much RAM is in your box? This could cause some errors, as well.

Just some things to think about.

You're not moving the pictures around from one folder to another are you? That would be one reason for that particular error (in bold.)

Nope. the first time i did it on my laptop, and my pics were on external harddrive, and everytime i disconnect external it cause that problem. So, i switched to desktop where everything is in 1 file and i don't have to move anything. But i have not disconnected my external in case.
I went back and deleted all my videos and thought maybe one of them is not working. But same error with only photos and music same error. I was checking the internet to see if maybe something not working with photos? They are all jpeg does that matter?

Have you added any other external hardware / storage device of any kind? I have done this before with a card reader and as the external harddrive was not plugged in the card reader basically bumped the hard drive to the nexter drive letter. Let me try to explain:

Hard Drive was under letter J
Plugged in card reader with Hard Drive switched off
Card reader became letter J
Turned Hard drive on and it appeared as letter K
Movie maker was looking in drive J for my pics, but couln't find them as they appeared as drive K

Hope that made sense!

no i never disconnected the external. But my time line shows all the photos, so it is not a problem with the photos, i can view all the photos/videos. I guess it is just the software.

Anyone know of another free program i could try. it is so annoying that i spent all that time and now it wont work

so i have tried to reload my previous movie maker(Pinnacle) But it loads videso and they don't play. They are loaded as AVI. Does anyone know what format i should change them to so that i can add to the movie maker Pinnacle? thanks:surfweb:
