I have a quick question regarding Facebook. If I find someone I know on Facebook and look at their home page, do they know I was there looking at the page? I didn't "friend" them because I felt a little awkward doing it. This morning I had a "friend request" from that person!!! It's just too
much of a coincidence. My DS (23) says the person didn't know I was there, but I don't believe it. It's just too crazy!

Help!

Thanks.

No, they don't know you're there. Facebook might have made a connection between you (mutual friends or whatnot), and made the suggestion to that person to be your friend.

no there is NO way people know who looks at their page, unless you post something on their page. Make sure you don't believe anything you see on there that says it will let you see who looks at your page.

Nope, the other person will not know you are looking. Facebook, however, does. Their algorithm takes a lot into account when they suggest friends to people. I guarantee one of those things is viewing a profile. By looking at this person's page you may have bumped yourself up in the algorithm to the point where you were a suggested friend and they took the suggestion.

This is exactly what I was going to say. :thumbsup2

Okay - thanks everyone. If Facebook didn't make the suggestion, then it is just a very weird coincidence.

Lately, I've seen people become fans of "See who is looking at your profile." Do you think that really works??

NO. they do not. these types of things aren't allowed by FB. If you see something promising you this, it is a scam and is probably infecting your computer with virus or some type of malware...

now there are things for your top "fans" which basically just looks at your profile to see who posts the most on it and these are your tops fans, but in no way are they are any applications, groups or otherwise that will allow you to see who is viewing your profile.

If you've looked at someone's page FB likes to suggest that you all be friends. It is a giveaway to me that someone has looked at my page if we don't have other friends in common, but I don't think a lot of people think twice about it.
