quick drying clothes for wet rides

As I get older, I have tended to avoid the wetter rides (at Disney and Universal) because I HATE wearing wet soggy clothes all day. I'm there in the summer.

My boys wear their swim trunks and a rash guard on top so I was looking at something like that combo for myself. I've found some skirted swim capris at Coolibar http://www.coolibar.com/product/Women/Swimwear/Shorts-Tights-Skirts/Skirted-Swim-Capri/pc/2240/c/2186/sc/2211/156140.uts

I'm not young so I'd prefer more coverage than less and I don't want to look like I'm wearing my bathing suit.

Any tips on keeping cool and dry in the parks?

I hear ya! The capris you posted look too hot to me...have you considered athletic wicking, non-cotton tops and capris? I got some from Duluth Trading Company that I love. Their No-Ga pants and capris are really comfy and quick drying, and keep you cooler on hot days. They have lots of longer tops, too.

A change of socks in your bag or a pair of flip flops to wear on the ride make a huge difference too.

Go to Nike and buy some Drifit clothing. You can find plenty of tops and shorts that are great for the heat and also dry quick. They have plenty to choose from in men or women.

There are lots of clothes for the "outdoors person" that are quick dry now. Check places like Bass Pro, Cabelas, LL Bean for quick dry shorts...think about things you'd wear to kayak or hike. I LOVE running shorts for quick dry options too. Nike some really comfy ones (bonus for elastic waistbands!) but Target's C9 brand are great and very affordable!

I plan to wear lots of running shorts at Disney for just this reason! :)

I love the anywhere skort from Athletica, I have a different one for each day in the park!

Check Athleta for some skirt/skort options that are slightly more modest ( ? ) and will dry quickly - that's what I usually wear. The C9 tops from Target are great, and JCP has some similar ones at even lower price points if you won't wear often. WalMart now has some cute tops for $6.00 (which I found when DD needed a green shirt for field day at the last minute) . Be aware that they are cut very very slim, but they're cute if that's a better look on you than it is on me :/

Judy - did you mean the "wherever" skort by Athleta? I don't see any anywhere skort.

I LOVE Athleta stuff - and I'm not young either. They have some great sun dresses made out of swimsuit material. They dry quickly, never wrinkle, great coverage and feel so comfortable.

Several people on the Tips board recommended Columbia shorts as being quick dry. So I picked up two in two different styles from Amazon and DH got one pair of men's. They will also be good for washing quick at night in the room.

Also, look at women's boardshorts. They were originally for surfing, and are made out of quick dry material.

Thanks for all of the ideas....wow! I haven't looked anywhere but online so I'll check out some stores and some of the online places.

So if you get the outdoor (hiking) style shorts....and I hate to ask....what sort of underwear do you wear with it that won't be soppy wet when the seat of the shorts get wet? Or do they have attached underwear like a swimsuit?

I guess the same question goes for the bra... are people wearing bikini type pieces under these things?

I also found this convertible swim shirt I like....has the option for long sleeves: http://www.coolibar.com/product/Convertible-Swim-Shirt/156262.uts?keyword=convertible swim shirt Sometimes I have problems with suntan lotion so as hot as that might be...it could make a good top (and I could remove the sleeves). You have to wear a bikini/bra top underneath which they sell.

I have lost a lot of weight in the past year so believe me...the words hiking and outdoor and swimsuit were not on my list in the past many years.

Now I just wish all this stuff was about half the price...lol!

Under my quick dry shorts or boardshorts I wear synthetic undies, like nylon / spandex. They will dry quick and not bunch like cotton. Same for bra (unlined).

Just remember, synthetics dry quickly, but they don't breathe like cotton and can be hotter.

You can find most of this stuff (quick dry) at Walmart or Target too. You don't have to get expensive online stuff. Most "active wear" made today will be wicking and quick drying. Just don't get cotton.

Athleta Whatever or Whenever Skort with an athlete Pavitra top. I have enough for a week's worth :) I get them on sale and also on ebay.

Oh, I also picked up some things on sale at Kohl's (and used a coupon on top of the sale) in the athletic department. A pair of shorts and two "wicking" tops.

OP congratulations on your weight loss :goodvibes Now my opinion Those two things you posted are going to be too hot I just can't see it It's averaging 90's here now when you come in about a month it may be close to 100 degrees :faint:

I would definitely go with cotton wicking material Wal-Mart, Kohls, an outdoor store or eBay

Lands end has Aqua Terra supplex board shorts. These are great in the pool or running around the parks. They do run a size bigger so order them a size smaller which is good for the ego.

Try running skirts at runningskirts.com Their skirts come in different lengths, plus the seaming is reversed, meaning it won't rub on your skin.

As for underwear, don't wear any!!:eek: Seriously, most running skirts have it built in, so no need. And no soggy underwear!

Love those capris and the shorts, never seen anything like that in the UK, my DD would love them too, I'm older and she is a little heavier (she doesn't mind me saying that) and we are both quite modest ladies, so we had real problems when we last went together finding anything we could wear at the pool or water parks. I hope they can ship to the UK so we can go swimming here this summer.

A couple of days ago there were a few days of 95 plus, and I got a few water themed rides. Before i knew it I was completely dry. Stay with cotton, and away from synthetics. Synthetics looks and feel good, but are killers in the heat.
